The Adelaide Hills Council’s 2024-25 plan – key takeaways & thoughts

The Adelaide Hills Council’s?Annual Business Plan 2024-25?was recently released. The plan outlines the region’s strategic goals for the year.

Mount Barker is the fastest-growing district in South Australia – named as the state’s second city.

Key projects include:

·??????Extending the Amy Gillett Bikeway from Mount Torrens to Birdwood

·??????Installing a splash park at the Adelaide Hills War Memorial Swimming Centre

·??????Developing a new Biodiversity Strategy and Tree Strategy

·??????Activating the Fabrik Arts and Heritage Hub following its redevelopment

·??????Delivering road safety initiatives under the federally funded black spot program

·??????Increasing community connections through forums

·??????Collaborating with Adelaide Hills Tourism to promote travel in our region

·??????Setting goals and a pathway to achieving net zero corporate carbon emissions.

Alongside these announcements we also have the Federal Government’s $120 million budget to upgrade the Mount Barker and Verdun interchanges, plus $100 million to improve the South Eastern Freeway.

The funding will go towards a range of safety updates, such as the Crafers-tollgate descent, according to State Treasurer. Investment in transport will only further increase interest in our region, making it quicker for commuters. As real estate agents, we predict freeway improvements will open up access to lesser-known towns and encourage people to commute from more places than Mount Barker.

All the new, local developments and strategic initiatives directly impact the Hills’ real estate market. If you’d like to chat about how these upcoming projects affect your property plans, reach out to book an appointment with our sales agents and property managers.

A good way to check the market value of a property and get data about sales in a suburb is via an?Appraisal Report. You can see how major developments have impacted property prices. We recommend completing the report at least once a year.
