Addverb : Action Personified

Addverb : Action Personified

When searched on the internet, "Verb" throws up as a word used to describe an action, state or occurrence............. Little did I know that each day will be full of "Action" at Addverb, a startup that was born out of a desire to disrupt the manufacturing and logistics sector in India and across the world.

When I was working for Asian Paints, I always used to think that a start-up was all about having a new idea, I always felt that one breakthrough innovation, creates a start-up. Little did I know that I was wrong. Typically, through a start-up many people try to solve a problem that hasn't been solved as of yet. The challenge lies little in thinking of an idea to solve the problem and lies more in the Execution of that idea. Managing an execution of any idea that has never been attempted before on scarce resources is the most fundamental part of a start-up. When working in a start-up you truly understand the meaning of multi-tasking, when you have to work on multiple assignments at the same time, just like others beside you. Its challenges like these that ensure that not a single day at the startup is monotonous.

I think that none of the early stage start-ups can afford a structured learning & development department for their employees, but while on the job, you truly learn some of the best things like the meaning of team-work when you get support from everyone in your team, even if they are loaded with work. Also, one of the best aspect of working in a start-up is building upon ideas of each other. Since there are no precedents that can guide your decisions, it becomes imperative for anyone to have a conversation with your colleagues whenever they need to take a decision related to product, process or policy. It's exactly in these conversations that magic happens, and through these conversations, ideas are brought to life and these ideas constantly fuel the execution engine that runs the start-up.

Another interesting aspect of working in a start-up is resilience. You learn to hear and accept a "No" from all quarters that can be imagined, may it be to acquire a new customer or to get a new employee on board or finding a new vendor. You keep trying hard to execute your ideas, irrespective of the number of times you have failed to execute it. When you set out to try again, to convince that new customer or prospective employee, you learn to try with all your passion and energy every time, working in a start-up is about developing that resilience, which helps you to bring that passion and energy each day to work and helps you keep faith even when the chips are down. After all, faith does move mountains.

The past two years have been simply amazing and a total roller coaster ride for all of us at Addverb. From pulling of frequent all-nighter to constantly travelling on the road, it has been a memorable journey till now. Within these two years, we have expanded from a small team of 6 to 65 and have been able to expand our footprint not only in India but also outside India, through our energy, passion and commitment. We have seen our tireless efforts and sleepless nights come to fruition in the form of our different products like AddLight ( Pick-Put-To-Light), Khushi (Pick-By-Voice), AddSat (Pallet Shuttle), AddLoc ( Warehouse Management System), AddSys (Warehouse Control System) to name a few. The journey for all these products will be eagerly watched by all of us as we continue to find our feat in the field of industrial automation. We have a vision to help India embrace the ongoing industrial revolution which experts have called Industry 4.0, not only this but we also want to take the technology developed in India throughout the world. I have learnt a lot in these two years and hope to learn many new things going ahead. In our journey, as mentioned by Frost, I truly believe that at Addverb we do have miles to go!!!!!!!
