The heart of an office

As we moved out of our office last week, fully committing to working remotely, we have been reflecting on what an office space means to us.

We are not alone in this, as studies and think pieces abound, some for remote work, and some for returning to an office environment. Each argues for the increase in productivity, employee happiness, and cultural gains - with the data to back it up.

What works for a business depends on several factors. At AddSearch, our employees come from around the world, giving us a diversity of perspectives and personalities. Our office, therefore, is the space we create in which each of us is trusted, valued, and able to connect and contribute.

How’s it going for us? Our Employee Net Promoter Score has been at its highest this year when we have been fully remote.

Remote work gives our team the space to explore places (as shown by the postcards and beautiful photographs we get), but also our passions and our priorities, creating a lifestyle that makes us all better at the work we do.

Content findability

In the process of creating more valuable and accessible content for our customers, speaking to what we do and how it can help customers grow their business, the effort that goes into creating effective content has become more evident.

We learnt that for 90% of content marketers, websites and blogs are the most important part of their content strategy. That is a lot of content being produced. However, if that content can’t easily be found, then it becomes far less effective from the customer’s point of view.

That makes content discovery all the more important, making sure that your website visitors are served the freshest and most relevant results. To help with this, our blog post on How to Solve Common Content Discovery Challenges in Site Search explores site search features that can ensure your visitors are finding the content they want, especially on content-heavy websites.

Frequently Bought Together & Personalization

We live in a world of personalized services. If a salesperson at a store offered us winter boots in the height of summer when we’re looking for something light and fashionable, we would wonder about how suited they are to their job. We now expect the same level of professionalism from our online stores that we do in person. We now expect it, rather than being pleasantly surprised when Youtube or Netflix suggests something we’d enjoy watching next. The data is in: 76% of consumers are more likely to purchase from brands that personalize (McKinsey).

One way in which to provide a more personalized experience is by showing items that are frequently bought together. From a visitor’s perspective, this function is a shopping guru, beckoning over to the cheeses when you’ve bought a wine, suggesting a pair of shades to go with a fashionable outfit, or saying, ‘Now you’ve read that, you might find this interesting’.

To a web store or a website owner, it can be a way to show customers you care about their interests, while at the same time helping customers explore products or content they might not otherwise have been exposed to.

The Frequently Bought Together feature can also help you cross-sell and up-sell while satisfying customers. Our post Frequently Bought Together Marketing: The Secret to Maximize Your ROI covers this in more depth.
