Addressing ‘The Impossible Question of Living Well’ A deeply honest and inspiring event for our times

Presented by author Dr Helen Street Street, with host Justin Roberts

Is it possible to develop deep, meaningful connections, while also knowing how to let go when change and loss occur?

In this presentation and follow-on conversation with Justin Roberts, Helen Street speaks to some of the most important messages of her new book ‘The Impossible Question of Living Well’.

Through a deep dive into change, impermanence and the nature of identity, Helen explores some of the ways we can learn to embrace meaningful connections more deeply; and how we can more meaningfully deal with the inevitability of loss. In so doing she explores the notion of what it means to live fiercely through good times and bad.

Helen challenges some of the most common myths and misconceptions about building both wellbeing and resilience, as she discusses the nature of success, the value of tough emotions and the path to trusting ourselves. Most notably, she proposes a shift from thinking about resiliency as a capacity to stay focused on our goals, with grit and determination; to thinking about resiliency as an ability to accept and navigate change, no matter the goals we are seeking. She considers the impermanence of life; the stability of our values; the reality of hope; and the temptation to seek happiness at all costs, even when times are tough.

Helen firmly believes that the more we understand and address ‘the impossible question of living well’ for ourselves, and with others we care for, the more we will reduce the impact of trauma, change and loss; and the more we will experience the untold beauty of a life well lived.?
