Canada Today - We speak our overview and reflect on the press conference and announcement by Prime Minister?Justin Trudeau in Victoria after visiting parts of British Columbia devastated by flooding and mudslides on November 26, 2021.
'' No matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes, we’re going to be there to help British Columbians as they deal with this challenging situation - and we’ll work with the province, Indigenous partners, and communities every step of the way.''
''All Canadians stand with the people of British Columbia as they continue to deal with the impacts of the recent floods, landslides, and extreme weather conditions;''?
Climate change is a real challenge that affects the lives of thousands of Canadians today. An extreme natural disaster such as flooding has affected so many lives in the province of British Columbia. The environmental and economic harm along with the human suffering due to the climate change effect is so visible and is so disappointed. The government of Canada and Canadian Forces are there, in the most affected by flooding disaster areas. They do all they can to support people to stay safe and healthy.
To address the impact of the devastation caused by flooding in British Columbia, Prime Minister ?Justin Trudeau?and the Premier of British Columbia announced last Friday, November 26, 2021, the launch of the new committee - a joint cabinet of the federal and provincial ministers. Ministers will focus their work on solving problems and dealing with the destruction caused by extreme weather conditions such as flooding. And they also will go with the needed efforts to build a normal livelihood back in the province of British Columbia.
''British Columbia is in stress and in crisis as a result of successive weather events and of course a global pandemic. But today we've established a joint committee of ministers federal and provincial to work together '' - said, B.C. Premier John Horgan at the press conference.
''Together with the Province of British Columbia, we will continue to take immediate action to help all those who need it, and we will support communities and families as they rebuild from the destruction.?''
The new committee will be co-chaired by federal Public Safety Minister Bill Blair and B.C. Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth. The committee will provide resources and coordinate the needed and immediate support and assistance to all British Columbians affected by this extreme weather event - including those in remote areas and Indigenous communities. Ministers also will work together to ensure rebuilding and recovery efforts in the province and build back cleaner and healthier communities, keep people protected and safe and move ahead to reach our climate goals and net-zero emissions targets.
Both, Federal and Provincial Governments agreed to match for a period of 30 days every dollar donated to the Canadian Red Cross'?British Columbia Floods and Extreme Weather Appeal. That means every $1 donated becomes $3 to help British Columbians who are affected by flooding. '' Really pleased that the federal government and the provincial government are matching donations with the red cross. So one dollar donated by you results in three dollars of support for people on the ground who desperately need it '' - highlighted, ?Justin Trudeau.
Donated funds are significant today and tomorrow because there is work to be done that is not for one day. As evacuees began to recover, donated funds will allow the Canadian Red Cross to continue supporting them in the days, weeks, and months ahead. To recover and build back their lives from this crisis will take time and resources to support all affected families, businesses, and communities in need.

''So as always as Canadians are watching across this country and hearts are going out to folks who are working really hard to rebuild their lives and build a stronger future. Send them your support because this is what we do as Canadians we're there for each other, '' - stressed?Justin Trudeau.
''Climate action can’t wait, and the federal government is committed to being bolder and moving faster in the fight against climate change.”
We see the unpredictable effect of climate change today in BC, and we conclude that there is no more time to postpone our actions against climate change. To protect the health and safety of Canadians, recover back stronger, build a cleaner and greener future, we must act faster today by taking strong and bold climate action. Now, this is the moment when we will go with recovery in all aspects and build the needed change and transformations in the climate change industry.
The Federal Government will work together with the local provincial leadership, as well as will collaborate with Indigenous partners to the local population, to help all British Columbia population to be safe, feel supported during this crisis, and help them rebuild their lives back.
The Government of Canada has already deployed more than 500 troops in the province to help with the fallout of flooding. And now, Canadian Forces are on the ground in British Columbia to help those in need and make a real difference in the people's lives. During the visit, in BC, Prime Minister met with the members of the Canadian Armed Forces, first responders to the natural disasters, volunteers, and workers who support the local flood-relief efforts, and who would be on the ground to help prepare for a series of expected, upcoming storms.
''Whenever and wherever they’re needed, the brave women and men of our Canadian Forces go. Today, I met with some who have been deployed to Abbotsford - and I expressed my gratitude for the hard work they’re doing, day in and day out. ''?- said, Prime Minister ?Justin Trudeau.
Friday, November, 26, Prime Minister visited Abbotsford and met with the local leadership in the BC to see, discuss and learn about the flooding disaster from the local leadership. He held a meeting and conversations with Deputy Premier Mike Farnworth, Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun, Chief Dalton Silver of the Sumas First Nation and Chief Alice McKay of the Matsqui First Nation. During the meetings,?leaders concluded that will take weeks for the floodwaters to be cleared; however, the impact on farmers and the recovery efforts could last years.
