"Additive Manufacturing" (aka "3DPrinting") and COVID-19

Today, and every day forward, we can expect this industry to help the medical community by rapidly reverse engineering, designing and produding parts and equipment that is needed in hospital ICUs to combat the novel coronavirus.

The technology is being applied on a worldwide basis to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 among doctors, nurses, hospital employees, firemen, policemen and others who test positive for this virus by "printing" PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) using a variety of materials.

A small sampling of products includes:

  • Ventilator valves and splitters
  • Face masks and shields
  • Swabs for testing

Innovative thinking plus the use of thousands of 3D printers can help to create new and immediate solutions to deal with this global pandemic!
