HPE GreenLake Disaster Recovery (Zerto) Integration with ZVM.

HPE GreenLake Disaster Recovery (GLDR) with Zerto provides a scalable and reliable solution for protecting your workloads.

This guide outlines the process of transitioning your Zerto Virtual Manager (ZVM) from a trial license to a full GreenLake Disaster Recovery license (GLDRL) in a seamless way without affecting your Protection Groups. This also applies if you purchase Zerto through GreenLake and prefer to use ZVM instead of the GreenLake console.

Steps to Add Your GreenLake Disaster Recovery License:

1. Access the ZVM with the Trial License

- Start by logging into the on-premises Zerto Virtual Manager (ZVM) that is currently using the trial license.

2. Navigate to License Settings

- Click the hamburger menu located in the top right corner of the ZVM interface.\

- From the dropdown, select "License" to open the license management page.

3. Extract the Current License

- Double-click on the existing license string to select it entirely.

- Press CTRL + X to cut the license string and paste it into Notepad for safekeeping.

- After copying, click the "Update" button to proceed.

At this point, a confirmation screen will appear indicating the license update process. Rest assured that this change will not impact your Protection Groups.

4. Access ZVM Deployment Settings

- In your web browser, navigate to the ZVM’s IP address and append /management/settings to the URL. For example:

https://<ZVM-IP>/management/settings

- This will take you to the deployment settings page of the ZVM.

5. Disable the GreenLake Agent

- On this page, locate the GreenLake Agent toggle switch.

- Click the toggle to disable the agent temporarily. This step is required to remove the connection between ZVM and HPE GreenLake.

6. Confirm Site Disconnection

- Now, switch to the HPE GreenLake for Disaster Recovery cloud console and verify that the site status changes to “Disconnected”. This ensures the temporary disconnection between ZVM and the cloud.

- Once disconnected, go to your vCenter > VMAs and remove the site from the left-hand navigation panel by selecting the VMA and clicking the "X" icon.

7. Re-enable the GreenLake Agent

- Return to the ZVM Deployment Settings and re-enable the GreenLake Agent by toggling the switch back on.

- Copy the Serial Number from the ZVM’s details.

8. Re-add the VMA to HPE GreenLake

- Navigate back to the HPE GreenLake DR console.

- Click the "+" button to re-add the VMA. The site will automatically be added with the newly assigned GreenLake Disaster Recovery License (GLDRL).

Post-Installation Notes

Once you’ve completed the above steps, the site should reappear in the HPE GreenLake DR cloud console with the GLDRL license. All Protection Groups remain unaffected throughout the process, ensuring that your workloads are continuously protected.
