ADDING VALUE
Lately there have been stories on several talk shows about people making millions from their social media pages.?And, there are many companies involved in efforts by which are doing very well. It’s good to see people doing well we want that for them, but I think there still remains the question are these people adding any value or improving life??It’s true they are an interesting distraction, but what is the long-term effect of what they do? Are they adding benefit to other people’s lives??Are they improving the issues that are touching the lives of many? Are they bringing peace or fear?
??Everyone likes attention, especially positive attention, no argument there. But, another questions which needs to be asked – what qualifications do these individuals bring to the table so that they become experts in people’s eyes? ?What experience, depth of thought and insight makes them someone to listen to?
??One of the things we have been demonstrating over the past several years, is our inability to use critical thinking. For many, responses have been emotionally led. So, if someone dangles a concept that touches a buried feeling or frustration, people seem willing to follow no matter how far-fetched what they are promulgating.
??So, what I am suggesting is enjoy social media, but don’t use it as a source for experts and deep thinkers. Choose very carefully what you believe and implement by doing deep critical thinking.?Divorce yourself from popular opinion and see over time how things really play out. Step back, take your time, think.
How deeply you think matters
