Adding the digital quotient to the health and wellness centers!
WISH FOUNDATION INDIA
Transforming Primary Healthcare Through Innovations
A Message from WISH CEO, Rajesh Ranjan Singh.
With the government’s focus on achieving universal health coverage through Ayushman Bharat, the healthcare system in the country is witnessing a leap in technological advancements, especially in the healthcare space. The government under Ayushman Bharat has envisaged transforming the primary healthcare centers into health and wellness centers. WISH is supporting the government in this endeavor. These centers provide digitally enabled healthcare facilities to the most isolated populations while addressing systemic deficiencies. We are also supporting the governments in our intervention states to transform the healthcare ecosystem. Telemedicine is one such example that is gradually getting accepted in rural India. With the help of innovative point-of-care devices, we extend the facility of mandatory diagnostics and tests to the patients at the subcenter level, which helps the patients get the right line of treatment without any loss of time. The digital solutions are a boon for the communities and are helping to reduce the last mile challenges. We are proud to partner with the government to address the challenges in the healthcare system and provide comprehensive healthcare solutions.

IMPACT STORIES
Every life is important! Rajkumari Rajak, a 72-year-old woman, is a resident of the Nagaon district in Assam. She is frail and needs assistance while walking. Her daughter, who is also over 45, lives with her. Even though Rajkumari Rajak's second vaccination dose was overdue, her daughter could not take her to the hospital. She felt helpless and did not know whom to contact to get her mother vaccinated. With the support of USAID and JSI, we are surveying communities to identify such people under the Momentum Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (M-RITE) project. During the survey, we came across this case. With the help and support of the Assam Health Department machinery, we were able to get her vaccinated in the comfort of her home. We felt relieved because we were able to provide a sense of relief and security to Rajkumari Rajak and her daughter. The old woman blessed us and thanked the government for saving her life.
COVID Response and Relief Initiatives
Till the last person is vaccinated!
We are supporting the Government of Assam to achieve 100 percent COVID vaccination of eligible populations. With the support of John Snow, Inc. (JSI), we organized a workshop for district and block coordinators to identify beneficiaries, address vaccination hesitancy, and ensure last-mile supply chain management.
The media plays an important role in achieving 100 percent COVID-19 vaccination.
We organized a media sensitization workshop to help the government of Assam achieve 100 percent COVID-19 vaccination. With the support of JSI, this workshop focused on the role and importance of the media. The workshop was attended by dignitaries and officers of the Assam government, media houses, donors, partners, and NGO networks.
Capacity Building Initiatives
Equipping the health staff with quality training to handle future public health crises in Uttar Pradesh With the support of Give2Asia, we conducted capacity-building sessions for doctors, staff nurses, and health workers in the districts of Fatehpur and Shravasti. With training sessions like these, the health workers will be able to handle any pandemic-like situation in the future with ease and confidence.
We trained the healthcare staff at IHMSat Jaipur in Rajasthan.
India is progressing towards a complete digitalization of the health system. Training the healthcare staff on Intelligent Hospital Management System (IHMS) software is a vital step in that direction. With the support of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) and the Romesh Wadhwani Foundation, WISH organized orientation and training sessions on IHMS software for lab technicians, accountants, data entry operators, and the nursing staff of the Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) of Jaipur in Rajasthan. We also supported strengthening the infrastructure of these UPHCs.
Give2Asia supports the Kshamata (capacity building) initiative in Rajasthan.
We supported Give2Asia to enhance the efficiency and resilience of healthcare service providers (HCPs) in Rajasthan. Training like this will equip healthcare workers to handle future public health emergencies. Health System Strengthening Improving the quality and delivery of health services is of prime importance to the Madhya Pradesh government doctors and nurses who received training from WISH Digital Health on how to use the LaQshya app. This app offers maternity and labor room OTs a quality assessment checklist. The tool provides capabilities to benchmark the facility as per LaQshya standards, thereby aiding in self-evaluation and improvement.
Communities sensitized on digital health in Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh
To sensitize the communities on digital health and to strengthen the delivery of Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) services in the digital Health and Wellness Centers (dHWC) of Rajgarh district in Madhya Pradesh, Swasthya Melas were organized. WISH supported the Health Department to sensitize the communities on the ease of receiving treatment from a specialist doctor through teleconsultation and performed health check-ups for the communities using Point of Care Devices (PoCD) at these melas.
Digital Health-Telemedicine is now here to stay!
The Directorate of Health Services, Government of Madhya Pradesh, is implementing eSanjeevani Telemedicine in the state with technical assistance from WISH. During the COVID-19 pandemic and, subsequently, due to focus on vaccination drives, post-COVID teleconsultations dipped immensely. But, continuous performance monitoring and regular meetings with the district authorities helped us improve the situation satisfactorily. Innovation and technology are boons for the underserved and the unreached.
Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND), sponsored by the National Health Mission (NHM), is an opportunity for the community to receive development and prevention services offered by several government-sponsored flagship programs. Our team in Assam helped the state Health Department by planning the VHSND. We took advantage of the opportunity to identify and contact high-risk expectant mothers. Blood testing and prompt, appropriate treatment were given to patients using PoCDs, such as AINA.
Technical Support Unit
The Government of Rajasthan focuses on getting NQAS certification for 100 PHCs in the state to enhance the quality of healthcare services in the PHCs. WISH is supporting the Government of Rajasthan to make infrastructural, HR, and systemic changes. In collaboration with NHSRC, we conducted capacity building for the internal assessors. These trained assessors will conduct a district-level assessment of one hundred PHCs selected for NQC certification.
Capacity-building of community health officers to strengthen the state health systems!
With the assistance of the State Institute for Health and Family Welfare (SIHFW) and the Health and Welfare Council (HWC), our technical support team assisted in the induction and training of the Community Health Officers (CHOs) of Rajasthan into the state's healthcare systems. We also created a comprehensive guideline to standardize the incentive procedure for the CHOs.
Social media is all-powerful today!
With the support of NHRSC, we capacitated the nodal officers of the Rajasthan state Health Department on the importance and power of social media. Community Outreach Activities
COVID may have lessened, but it’s not gone!
Engagement with women's groups, schools, community volunteers, and mothers' groups on COVID and health and hygiene issues was organized in the WISH intervention districts of Assam.
Telemedicine and PM-JAY are crucial to taking healthcare to new heights in India!

Through this platform, we also disseminated information on Ayushman Bharat and the benefits of Golden Cards for eligible beneficiaries.

Yoga is the new global mantra for a healthier life!
Digital Health and Wellness Centers in Madhya Pradesh are helping and motivating the communities to live healthier lives. On International Yoga Day, WISH supported the government to sensitize the community on health and wellness through yoga.
