Adding a dash of data
My introduction to process mapping initially happened via my experience with customer journey mapping.
I was captivated by it - probably because I am drawn towards visual tools for displaying complex information. So I spent a number of years learning the art and science of business process management but joined Software AG in January knowing that I didn't know a lot more than I knew :-)
Over time I guess I will explore some of those emerging unknown areas but this piece is on the idea of adding a data overlay to a visual understanding of how a process should run.
It can be done manually using a static set of data from a point in time and that in itself immediate helps to extract additional insights.
Moving from manual to automation brings everything forward massively - moving from black and white to colour :-)
Within the enterprise management space that automation and analysis capability - allowing a business to way more easily understand their operations - is known as process mining.
Done in conjunction with process mapping it is a powerful facilitator of both operational excellence and also a key foundation for digital transformation. Gartner published their very first Magic Quadrant this week where they focus on Process Mining Tools and Software AG are Leaders - a testament to the value that capability brings to our customers around the world.
