Has it ever happened that you took a 10 minutes break, went to Instagram, and in a blink of an eye 2 hours were gone?
That is the case with most users after the introduction of reels, Instagram saw a surge of 3.5% daily usage after the introduction of reels.
Instagram CEO in a statement told that in a survey Instagram found that the main reason why people come to the app was to get entertained and that was why Reels were launched back in 2020. Short video content was not only more interactive but also catered to the decreasing attention span of users hence 15-60 seconds is the sweet spot that allows the videos to not turn boring.
A similar platform, Tiktok has a slight disadvantage as it does not have additional features like Shop which prevents brands from coming on to the platform. Also, Instagram’s algorithms favour the user’s historical activity on the app by feeding certain posts in such a way that users see more than one post at a time. For example, if a person prefers images with certain themes, subjects, hashtags, etc., then Instagram will show more of that same type of content in the person’s Feed and Explore pages.?
