Add to your collection on your favorite websites - introducing hobbyDB's new Pop-up Marketplace

As collectors, we’re used to scrolling through multiple e-commerce marketplaces to find the perfect item for our collection. Jumping from site to site, we spend hours trying to find the best deal and often end up frustrated and empty handed. But what if there was a better way, closer to home?

The geeks at hobbyDB believe that wherever collectors hang out online, they should be able to buy and sell with ease. Therefore, they’ve created a way to make your buying/selling experience a natural part of the sites that you already love.

Enter the customizable “Pop-Up Marketplace” - a new way for collectors to buy and sell in their natural environment. Now, instead of collectors going to external marketplaces, hobbyDB is bringing those marketplaces straight to your favorite blog, club, forum or even favorite retailer website.

The Pop-Up Marketplaces offer the following powerful features -

  • They show ONLY items relevant to the host site. That might be Jaguar related items (like the above mock-up) Barbie Dolls or Decoys!
  • No need to register to buy - you can just check out in 10 seconds using our quick-and-easy guest check-out.
  • Lightning-fast listing! Using hobbyDB's Amazon-style database to drive the listing process means it takes just 15 seconds to put your item up for sale. And best of all, your item will show on the Pop-Up Marketplace you listed it on AND the hobbyDB Marketplace AND in any other relevant Pop-Up Marketplaces on other sites!
  • Partner sites receive a share of the selling fees, helping them offset their running costs.

And this model is already working. Two weeks ago, hobbyDB launched the first Pop-Up Marketplace on PopPriceGuide, the premier site for Funko collectors to research and catalog their collections. Funko collectors are thrilled that they can purchase items for their collection without having to spend hours scrolling through external websites. And they can easily get rid of duplicates, or make some extra cash by selling their items to the community that they already know.

We have lots more exciting new features in the pipeline too! Why not head over to www.poppriceguide.com and click on Marketplace in the menu to check it out!

A Pop-Up Marketplace is extremely convenient for both, buyers and sellers - particularly for sellers, since the push functionality for an offer to other relevant trading places is a great value.

I'm sure this will attract new sellers and buyers. It'll be great to see this replicated for other categories.

Great thing is that this concept could roll out to other categories easily (disclosure: I'm a committed investor in HobbyDB)
