Add an additional layer of security to your domains.

If you own or manage a brand, you know how important your domain(s) are. They are the addresses people use to find your websites, and losing control of them can have serious consequences.
That's where a Registry Lock comes in - it's an additional security feature that provides an extra layer of protection to your domain(s).
Why should I have a Registry Lock?
A Registry Lock ensures that only authorised people can make changes to your domain. This includes transferring ownership, changing registration information, or modifying DNS settings. To delete, transfer or update a Registry Locked domain the authorised user(s) of your account must pass security verification with Lexsynergy who in turn must pass security verification with the Registry.
By adding a Registry Lock, you prevent unauthorised access (such as domain hijacking).
Domain hijacking is a form of cyberattack where an unauthorised party gains control of your domain(s) and use them for malicious purposes. This can be devastating for your brand's reputation and can result in lost revenue, brand dilution, mistrust of your goods/service and a range of legal issues. A Registry Lock helps prevent domain hijacking by making it much more difficult for cybercriminals to gain control of your domain(s).

How should I implement a Registry Lock?
A Registry Lock is crucial for mission-critical domains. These are domains that are essential to your business operations, such as e-commerce sites, customer portals, and corporate email. Losing control of these domains could have severe consequences for your business. By adding a Registry Lock to your mission-critical domains, you ensure that they are always under your control and protected from cyber threats.
What if the Registry doesn’t offer a lock?
Not all registries provide a locking service, meaning that your brand could still be exposed in some domain extensions, but fret not, Lexsynergy offer a proprietary service called a ‘Registrar Lock’ to ensure that your brand is secure across the board.
Our Registrar Lock means that changes made via the Lexsynergy portal will require an authorisation process for the update to take effect. Any request to update a domain, such as changing the registrant contact information or transferring ownership, must go through a special verification process to confirm the identity of the requestor. This prevents unauthorised changes and helps to protect the domain from being hijacked or stolen.
