Adapting

During the first few days of shelter in place, the phone didn't ring. Probably just as well, giving us a chance to review the information we had and make some contingency plans. Then I reached out to clients and friends to see how they were doing, what they thought, and their ideas for coping. That was helpful. And it is ongoing.

Now we are seeing the resumption of activity. In litigation, that means depositions are being scheduled by video, documents exchanged, written requests for information and settlement letters sent. And the phones are ringing. Four new cases this week. Plus spot assignments, what I call Tupperware engagements. Glad to help out whatever the size of the task!

This is a long way from over. But it is encouraging to see lawyers and clients improvise and adapt! Legal problems don't disappear during a pandemic. That's why law firms are classified as an essential business. Along with liquor stores.
