Adapting to Our New Normal

2020 has brought social unrest, unprecedented events and economic disruption that hasn’t been seen in many decades – if ever.

The flow-on effect has seen businesses either adapt to the new market or shut down. Being in recruitment, the Wellington office has not only watched the market but we have tried our absolute best to support both businesses and candidates affected by Covid-19. We have heard the stories of Pilots becoming Security Guards at supermarkets and we have met these individuals who continue to remain positive in such uncertain times.

Kinetic has been around since 1997, so has survived many market changes, and we continuously chose to adapt to change. Kinetic has invested in a new recruitment technology called Odro which allows us to recruit virtually yet personally - including recording and emailing first interviews with the questions Hiring Managers would like us to ask. We have seen this technology used through the UK and Australia with incredible results – including a 70% increase in the placement of people into permanent jobs.

Another major change that Kinetic have implemented is the recent employment of Jade Moolman, Kinetic’s Senior ICT Specialist. We have seen the ICT industry in Wellington flourish in both the private and public sectors and are thrilled to have Jade join us to develop Kinetic Recruitment – ICT. The second area we have seen an influx in is candidates requesting Career Coaching with Linda Henderson, Head of Careers and Development. People used the lockdown to reflect on their situation and how they would like to go forward in both a professional and personal mindset.
