Adapting to Change and Embracing Opportunities: Lessons from Danielle Humilde’s Career Journey"

As I reflect on Danielle Humilde’s career journey, I find it inspiring how she went from being an entrepreneur to becoming a digital marketing strategist at Marsh McLennan. I can relate to her experience in part because she was able to make significant changes with little information, particularly in her early days as an entrepreneur. Her experiences have made me think about the growth potential that comes with being an entrepreneur.

Danielle's adventure started when she switched from her degree in political science and anthropology to the world of digital marketing. She was presented with a typical dilemma: what to do with a degree that didn't fit her desired professional path. Rather than going after a master's degree, Danielle decided to pursue further education in a different sector which is what I am doing top, I did a degree in Social Service Worker: Gerontology which is very different from what I am doing right now. She considered combining her interests in technology and cultural studies with digital marketing. But when COVID-19 broke out, her path took an unforeseen turn that interfered with her and her peers' ambitions. Danielle turned to entrepreneurship, yet her tenacity was evident even in the face of this setback.

One noteworthy example is Danielle's partnership with sustainability-focused Ahimsa Eco Solutions is one outstanding illustration of her inventiveness. She grabbed the chance to use her current network and abilities to convert a short-term internship into a long-term collaboration. Her strategy for coming up with a marketing campaign for Boxing Day to Black Friday was especially effective. Even though digital marketing is expensive and extremely competitive at this time, Danielle managed to succeed. She decided to broaden the target audience, deciding to change the brand's voice and tone to appeal to consumers who are concerned about sustainability. My interest in entrepreneurship has been piqued as I was already thinking about it and by Danielle's path, particularly her entrepreneurial period. I've thought about being an entrepreneur, like many others, but I've been put off by worries about uncertainty and unstable finances. Danielle's story demonstrates how early entrepreneurship can result in success and personal development if one has an open mind and is prepared to adapt. It inspires me to think about becoming an entrepreneur in the future, knowing that it's crucial to have the flexibility to adjust to changing circumstances.

In both my academic and professional lives, I have personally gone through changes wherein I changed my mind and got better results. One instance is when I first pursued a Social Service Worker degree because at the time I was so sure about it but then realized that it’s not for me. At the time I thought it would be my only option for a career. But when COVID-19 started it changed my perspective on many things like it did for many other people, I started making content and enjoyed it a lot, and I made the decision to go in a different direction. In the end, this choice resulted in a more satisfying and suitable job path. It emphasizes how crucial it is to be adaptable, receptive to new experiences, and open to personal development.

Danielle said “Be open for new opportunities…Everything in life is either a lesson or a blessing, Keep an open mind”, I agree with this and is also a wise way of thinking that can greatly boost resilience. I have been working in retail for a very long time, have worked with many different brands and when I started my new job a Nordstrom I was very excited about it and also was very confident thinking that it’s nothing new. But realized on the very first day that they do things very differently as compared to other retail stores. I learned not just about their customer app, but also, that they had an application for employees from which they were able to connect here customers and do clientele. I learned how can contact customers and sell them products through that application, which was new to me, although this seemed intimidating at first, I decided to see it as a teaching moment. By asking for assistance from others, and participating in training programs. This encounter strengthened the notion that obstacles can be turned into chances for one's professional and personal growth.
