Adaptability to Surviving - Five Ways

Adaptability to Surviving - Five Ways

Hi, fellow Bangkit 2023 Cohorts and readers! It has been almost two months since I joined Bangkit, and there are a bunch of soft and hard skills I have already learned since then. In this post, I want to share with you five ways of adaptation I have done during this Bangkit 2023 Program.

Ways of Interacting

In this program, I learned that some factors matter. For example, for some people, including me, producing proper sentences in Bahasa is already quite challenging. Bangkit 2023 program took the challenge to another level by introducing English as the primary language to improve our language skills and remove the language barrier. The other example was when I conducted some study group sessions. I was confused when no one asked any questions. However, from all the feedback from my peers, I conclude that my explanation in each session is clear enough that there are no hanging questions to ask. However, there is still some room for improvement here and there. This example shows that each person has their preference and personality for asking questions.

Ways of Achieving

This program offers a lot of opportunities for us. Some of them that grab my attention are the Tensorflow Developer Certificate, link or channel to fellow learners and companies, and technical experience on a technology project. One of my success stories is when I had a pleasant conversation with Kak Marcellius X. on Linkedin. I asked some questions about Traveloka and careers, and his answer perfectly satisfied my curiosity. I even get his feedback about my performance in the ILT session on my LinkedIn recommendation section. At Bangkit 2023 Program, we also have the group norm, the Bangkit 2023 Program Code of Conduct, which ensures this program is safe to learn and share. The other is ILT ground rules that ensure we focus on the session and optimally learn from the instructor.

Ways of Learning

In this program, I learned soft and hard skills in various ways, such as learning by observation, action, and sharing. I watch the course tech videos and the live ILT session and observe them closely for tech and soft skill insight. Doing coding assignments and participating actively in ILT sessions are my attempt to learn by action. Lastly, sharing my insights about what I've learned via study group sessions and even this post that shares my POV of adaptability are some attempts to learn by sharing. As a result, I learned soft and ML-related skills.

Ways of Working

Bangkit 2023 program introduces us to industry-like settings. We need to work (in this case, learning) at least 40 hours a week. We can access the self-paced material anywhere and anytime and have other live sessions, such as weekly consultations, ILT Tech - Softskill- English, guest speaker sessions, team meetings, weekly talks, etc. For self-paced learning, the ML cohorts usually work on Coursera and Dicoding. Then, we regularly have live sessions on Google Meet or YouTube.?

Ways of Thinking

A growth mindset is one of the aspects that the Bangkit 2023 program wants us to have. The program embraces the give-and-receive constructive feedback culture. We give feedback to the mentors, sessions, and many more to improve the program quality. We also get feedback from peers and mentors. Even in First Team Meeting, the Bangkit Team gives us feedback about our learning progress.

So, that's all from me about five ways of adaptation that I have done during this Bangkit 2023 program. I can't wait to hear yours!
