One of the most interesting duels I ever came across, has been Musashi Miyamoto's vs Sasaki Kojiro. Kojiro was immensely talented and had a longer sword which means a better range. If that wasn't all, Kojiro was highly skilled and very disciplined as well.
On the day of the fight, Musashi used all the mental tactics like arriving late, which timed with getting his back towards the sun; enraging Kojiro through his insults; using a bokken for the fight, and so on. I must mention, these aren't great tactics to learn, but what gained my attention was the way Musashi adapted his weapon to have an edge over Kojiro's long sword.
On his way to the island, where the fight was scheduled to take place; while on the boat, Musashi used his knife to shape an oar into a bokken. The oar was longer than Kojiro's sword and heavy as well. All Musashi needed to do was leap high in the air and hit on the head of Kojiro. Kojiro lost and Musashi had his last win.
In these times of Corona, I hope people would draw inspiration from such stories and learn to adapt, instead of wishing the bad times away.
