ADANI HINDENBURG EPISODE – WHY INDIANS LOVE TO TRUST THE FOREIGNERS?
Most of us are getting it all wrong........
Some of us feel that the Mr Adani has cheated the country in collusion with the politicians at the highest levels. They believe that he is an oligarch busy making money through dubious means.
A vast majority of the people feel that the Hindenburg Report is a conspiracy against the country and the whole world is somehow ganging up to make sure that India does not become a superpower and get it’s well deserved place in the world order. They feel that Mr Adani is creating wealth for the country and is making critical infrastructure for the country that will propel the country forward. Some eminent persons have even gone on to comment that the report is part of the Information War (IW) being fought by the western nations against India.
The actual truth lies somewhere in between.
Whether it is the BBC Documentary or the Hindenburg report what stands out is the willingness of Indian Citizens to trust these findings by the foreign organisations. It is almost perplexing that the Indians are ready to believe a “Greta Thunberg” or BBC but have almost no trust in Indian Supreme Court, other government institutions and even political leaders.
?
If there is nothing wrong with Adani why are our regulators not issuing statements to that effect. Why our Babus who draw hefty salaries and enjoy unlimited perks go in a hiding in the time of crisis?
?
Why are we Indians so eager to listen and react to Hindenburg report is because we don't trust our institutions, regulators, courts and media. We trust BBC or Hindenburg more than our own people. Why?
Because the credibility of our institutions is always under cloud. Firstly, the institutions are either not very competent or very independent. Secondly, our political leaders don’t hesitate even for a moment before casting aspersions and ascribing motives to the institutions. We are happy to paint our own organisations black.
We as educated people should be shouting out loud and clear that the country needs credible institutions and people with integrity.

The government also needs to trust us to sift truth from fiction and let us watch BBC documentary and decide the right from the wrong. The government doesn’t trust us and we in turn don’t trust the government.

Let's start with the education system where we don't even trust our teachers and schools to conduct free and fair examinations. So, we have Board Exams conducted in different schools and marked by anonymous examiners. Our competitive examination papers are leaked everyday and cheating is almost a norm. It is a shame that we as a nation accept such day light robberies being conducted by the people responsible for the education of our future generations.
?
In the Army, we get coaches from Civil to conduct our sports competition because we don't trust our own officers to conduct any sports competition in free and fair manner.
?
I am now practicing in AFT Delhi where mediocre civil lawyers and civil judges routinely comments adversely on the forces and overturn the judgements of Military Leaders. It is sad that the rank and file of the armed forces trust the AFT to deliver justice to them more than their leaders in uniform.
?
The malice runs very deep…….

Let's get our own house in order first...

1 年Thought provoking points Narinder. Something for us all as individuals & as a collective to think about. Coming to the 2 week long saga that has played out(Adani vs Hindenburg), it will possibly end with a negotiated settlement between them. I mean once their respective egos have been placated! The burden or cost of this episode will be borne largely by retail investors, directly or indirectly. That is a pity!
