Adani Group stormed its way into the airports business by winning bids to operate five of the six non-metro airports being privatised, several publications reported. Sources said the infra major made “very aggressive” bids – some several times those by competitor GMR – to bag Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangalore, Trivandrum and Lucknow airports for the next 50 years. The bids for the sixth airport, Guwahati, will be opened on Tuesday. Experts feel the entry of Adani will enhance competition in a sector dominated by GMR (Delhi and Hyderabad airports) and GVK (Mumbai and, till recently, Bangalore). Here's what people are saying.

Mahindra & Mahindra is taking on Uber and Ola in the cab-aggregator space. India’s third-largest automaker has launched Glyd, a ride-hailing service that runs a fleet of Mahindra-only electric cars with premium features and prices 5-10% higher than rivals. Mahindra is expecting traction in business hubs such as Mumbai’s BKC and Lower Parel, where it foresees demand for 200-400 and 800-1,600 electric cars, respectively. This is M&M’s second foray as an aggregator. In 2015, it ventured into the cargo-aggregator business through SmartShift. Here's what people are saying.

India’s new draft ecommerce policy could help buyers, Quartz reports. That’s because it outlines strong anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy measures and asks etailers to list relevant seller details on their portals. Brick-and-mortar retailers are likely to get respite from ecommerce firms’ “predatory pricing,” which according to CRISIL will boost their FY20 revenue by a massive ?10,000-12,000 crore. But Chinese etailers are in for a rude shock with the government looking to clamp down on the gifting mechanism to evade duty. Ecommerce majors Amazon and Flipkart face pivotal decisions around how to store and share data even as their sales fall and losses mount. Here's what people are saying.

Also: Flipkart Group’s revenue jumped 50% to ?30,000 crore in FY18, Times of India reports, citing the parent company’s filings in Singapore. Losses increased five-fold to ?46,895 crore because of market-to-market booking of notional finance costs. Excluding the finance costs, the group posted a loss of ?5,934 crore.

Fortis Healthcare has appealed the Securities and Exchange Board of India to arrest its former promoters, after they failed to repay the ?472 crore fraudulently diverted. Last October, the capital market regulator had ordered the Singh brothers and various promoter companies to return the money within 90 days. But Shivinder Singh said he had retired from Fortis in September 2015 and, therefore, did not have decision-making authority when these advances were made. Japan’s Daiichi is also looking to enforce a ?3,500 crore arbitration award on the Singh brothers in a separate fraud case. Here's what people are saying.

One in four Indians feel their partner is secretive about money, leading to arguments, according to an online survey by ET Wealth that received 550 responses. But the biggest cause of financial discord among couples is overspending (41.3%), followed by its opposite – too much frugality (37.1%). Financial support to friends and relatives is the third most common reason. Worryingly, few young people debate the investment choices of their partners, suggesting poor financial planning. Earlier, an HSBC survey showed that two in three Indians do not save regularly for retirement. Here's what people are saying.

Idea of the Day: Forgoing sleep to put in extra hours will only lead to a decrease in productivity, says Dr Travis Bradberry.

“Skipping sleep … slows your ability to process information and problem solve, kills your creativity, and catapults your stress levels and emotional reactivity.”
