Adani group stocks have been rising for the last few sessions after falling more than 50% this year, with Adani Ports becoming the first firm to recover all losses triggered by the Hindenburg Research’s report. However, the Gautam Adani-group flagship Adani Enterprises is nearly 30% below its January 24 price, the day when the bombshell report was published. While the recent surge has helped Adani stocks trim some losses, some of the stocks still have to recover as much as 80% from January prices.

LIC share price surges nearly 4% today after 5-fold jump in Q4 net profit; stock still down 35% from IPO

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) share price jumped 3.72% to Rs 615.65 today after the insurance behemoth reported a more than five-fold jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 13,191 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 2023. LIC IPO was the largest ever public issue in India with an issue size of Rs 21,000 crore. Investors had high hopes from IPO, but LIC stock’s downfall started with its debut. LIC stock listed with an 8% discount at Rs 865 on May 17, 2022. Over one year has passed since then and the stock is still down 35% from the IPO price of Rs 949 per share.

Wipro’s Rishad Premji takes 50% voluntary compensation cut this year; Here’s how much

Wipro Chairman Rishad Premji has taken a 50 per cent voluntary cut in his salary for the fiscal year 2023. He will receive a total annual compensation of $951,353 as against $1,819,022 in the last fiscal year, according to its filing on the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US.

Rishad Premji’s?salary included $861,620 in salary and allowances, $15,390 in other incomes, and $74,343 in long-term compensation benefits. He is also entitled to a commission at the rate of 0.35 per cent on incremental consolidated net profits of Wipro Limited over the previous fiscal year. “However, in light of the fact that the incremental consolidated net profits for fiscal year 2023 was negative, the company determined that no commission was payable for fiscal year 2023 to Rishad A. Premji,” the company said in the filing. His?salary?also includes a cash bonus which is a part of his fixed salary. In the fiscal year 2023, there were no stock options granted to Rishad Premji, it said.?

Exit tax norms: Relief for charitable trusts

In a significant relief to charitable and religious trusts, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said on Wednesday that they can now apply for registration and approval to avail income tax exemption until September 30 this year.

The Finance Act, 2023 had amended the Income?Tax?Act to provide that the accreted income of the trusts that had not applied for registration or approval, within the specified time, would be liable to tax. The amendment came into effect from April 1 this year and applies to assessment year 2023-24 and subsequent ones.
