Adam's September Journal
September is always a month that hosts numerous events, awards and sporting engagements, which is a combination of all my favourite interests.?
London Fashion Week was one such eventSeptember and this year the forecasts for Spring/Summer '22 are safari jackets, lightweight button suits and poker-straight black tailoring. With Mark Weston at Dunhill, Paul Smith and Dolce & Gabbana all showcasing immaculately cut menswear suits.?
As we start to feel a change in weather, it also feels like wedding season is drawing to a close. In September there's been a lot of grooms take their vows and say I do and next month I’ll be featuring my client Pavel's story. I'll be catching up with Pavel to discuss his experience with me, why he opted for an Adam James wedding suit and how I differed to previous tailoring experiences.?
Pavel's not the only client who's been giving me great feedback lately, which is always a special feeling and something I never take for granted. I have always, and still do, aspire to be a tailor who clients trust. Tailoring should be an experience that comes with confidence and safe keeping, so to hear customers exclaim their gratitude and?that they?feel self-assured whilst wearing a bespoke suit of mine makes it all worthwhile, it's why I love what I do.
Unintentionally each month I seem to mention an element of sport in my journal, and this month is no exception. I was chuffed to tick a sporting moment off the bucket list when I went to see, in my opinion, the greatest football player of all time Ronaldo play for Manchester United. I also attended Wentworth for the BMW Championship earlier in the month, which was my first live golfing tournament and a great day spent with a good bunch of gents.?
Finally, this month I began work on my latest collection. Assembling new garments is a thrilling process and this new collection has certainly influenced my creative flair. I look forward to sharing more with you all in the not so distant future, but until then I hope you enjoy September's journal?in which?I share my favourite James Bond tailoring looks and my recent interview with South London Magazine.
Bond is Back
Earlier in the month Daniel Craig hit Leicester Square for the premier of his final Bond movie, No Time to Die, but it was his velvet pink tux jacket that got people talking, and buying. The fabric of the jacket was sourced from Scabal, one of my own go-to merchants, and in less than 24 hours the fabric was sold out - I think that confirms the red carpet look?as a?fashion triumph.?
The statement was a far cry from the traditional black tuxedo look we have come to expect, but I admired Daniel Craig?for?deciding to bow-out from his iconic role in unexpected style.?
With the?return of Bond I wanted to look back on the 007's from over the years and selected three of my favourite tailoring looks from the iconic figures, from past to present.?
IN THE PRESS: "Cool men share their favourite London Pubs"
This month, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by ‘South London Man’ for their feature entitled, “9 Cool Men Share Their Favourite London Pubs”.
The Sun Tavern?in Bethnal Green is a special spot, and one all locals and tourists?should check-out. In the city it's hard to find a?pub?that is as warm and welcoming as The Sun Tavern. It's heritage and?atmosphere?are what made me a regular when I lived in the East End, but it's the?friendships and memories that have been made in this haven that keep me going back long after changing my postcode.

A Londoners Guide once said that 'The pub is a unique?British institution that feels like home', and I have to agree.?
Client Story - Tailoring Friendships
I often comment on how much I love?to meet new people through work, but the part I never expected when I began this journey was for client relationships to turn in to ‘out of office’ friendships.
That's exactly what happened with?Nick, who has been a client of mine from the very beginning. This month I caught up with Nick to hear his take on our tailoring collaborations?and understand just what it is about Adam James Bespoke tailoring that's made him such a loyal brand ambassador.
"I?have introduced Adam James to a number of friends, family members and colleagues, chiefly because I am always confident they will be as satisfied as me. Most importantly, when I’m wearing an Adam James Bespoke suit I feel its high quality, durability, strength and unique style. You could not ask for more."
The world's most expensive suits
This week I read an interesting article?which detailed some of the most expensive suits in the world?and although there were some impressive designs, the price tags that matched were more than eye watering. For example, the above image is the Kiton K50 suit and will set you back?$50,000 US dollars.
?Most of the?tailors listed design their?suits for a very specific market only - the elite - with one of the world’s most expensive suits estimated to cost almost one million dollars. Although that amount of money on a suit seems somewhat hard to believe, it did bring me back to why I founded Adam James Bespoke in the first place. I want to make clients look and feel good, without hidden costs and additional fees.?
So does the price tags of the world’s most expensive suits justify the finished product? I'm not so sure, are you??
