Adam's Journal October 2021
As the clocks go back this weekend it really does feel like Autumn in the air, and although the darker nights become a good excuse to spend weekends in hibernation at home for most, for me I don’t feel like I’ve had a plan free weekend for months, nor do I see one in the coming weeks either – not that I’m complaining.
?At the start of October I headed up North for my client tour, which saw me visit the Midlands, Newcastle and Edinburgh. I’m always open to meeting with clients outside of London and will accommodate as much as possible, plus travelling to cities that I’ve never visited before is always an added bonus. I spent a night in Edinburgh and loved absorbing the culture, the buildings and (of course) the whisky. Next year I will be taking Adam James Bespoke to even more locations - some with international postcodes - as I’m booked to meet with new clients in Europe and New York in early 2022.?
?I’ve not seen too much live sport this month, mainly because of my schedule, but I did?watch the Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder?boxing match. I find myself really rooting for Tyson,?he’s a fascinating character to say the least. I don’t know how he felt after winning, but I know it took me a good few days to fully recover.
?In this months’ newsletter I’m discussing one of my favourite talking topics of the moment, bamboo suits. Although you may not know it, bamboo has become the go-to sustainable?fabric choice for a lot of my clients - even from those who aren't vegan and eco-conscious.?Sustainable suits are so much more than a new trend, they are the future of tailoring and I for one feel excited about this transitional change for the industry.
?So why not?sit back and enjoy Octobers edition.
Bamboo Suits
Fashion designers and consumers are looking to use natural materials in tailoring, and with customers becoming increasingly interested in the way that their suits are made, fabric alternatives to traditional wool are certainly?on the rise.?
With Bamboo becoming the popular fabric substitute, its popularity is down to its quality. The material has the same durability as wool, but with a hand-feel more close to cashmere. Bamboo is extremely resilient, robust and has a much higher breaking tenacity. This month I wanted to bring this?eco-friendly fabric center stage and delve in to the heritage, look at it's comparables and explain why one of my go-to Yorkshire fabric merchants?are leading the way with manufacturing sustainability.?
Client Story - Pavel's Big Day!
I like to spotlight my clients and share their Adam James Bespoke experience - whether it be a look at their first bespoke suit, catch up with clients who are conscious consumers, or discuss the importance of having trust in your tailor. This month I spoke to my client Pavel. Pavel recently said 'I Do' and his big day didn't only gain him a life partner and wife, but also “A suit I would treasure for the rest of my life”.

Autumn Leaves
As we prepare for darker nights and cooler climates the Autumn Leaves collection by Scabal is the supreme choice for those wanting to create something extra special this season.
Autumn Leaves is a plush collection that has a warm and comforting combination of wool and cashmere to make it a perfect fit for those ever pending frosty mornings and heavy rainy days. Not to mention a popular choice for clients wanting to add luxury to their Christmas party attire.?
The Corduroy Suit Comeback
With corduroy making a huge comeback this Autumn/Winter, I decided to make myself a casual two piece suit for the change of season.
?A good cord suit is one of the best suits you can wear during the colder months. The corduroy fabric is so versatile, durable and easy wearing. Whether you dress the cord pieces as individuals or as a set, the corduroy fabric?is the perfect smart-casual alternative for?days in the office or?nights out with friends. I'm certain this will be a staple for me over the coming months, if not?for many years that follow too!
