When did you start Flexible Eating & how did you get started
Started April 23, 2018 with the Lifestyle Essential Membership as I wanted weekly contact with the Ackermans to both learn as much as I could and have the accountability.
What prompted you to get started?
I had been doing Crossfit for 2 years and while I had lost weight, my body composition hadn’t changed that much. I also noticed I started to plateau in the gym.
How much weight have you lost?
My goal right now is to add about 10#. My weight is essentially the same but at the 6 week mark I had added 3# of skeletal muscle mass and went from a body fat % of 9.6% to 6.4%!
What other changes have you noticed in your body or in general?
I have lost 1.5″ off my waist and have blasted through the plateau in the gym. I.E. my deadlift has gone from 315# to 380# since I started OYE.
What has been your biggest obstacle that you have overcome or are working on?
Finding consistency in my eating. I am not a detail oriented person, so being intentional about my eating requires a lot of effort for me. Jason and Roz have made it as easy as possible for me to understand the concepts and deploy them in real life, even with 2 kiddos at home.
What’s the one thing you previously would have deprived yourself of on a diet that you now get to enjoy guilt-free?
The large quantities of food that I eat now. I was under eating in a big way and would always feel guilty if I ate a lot of food. Now it requires a detailed plan in order to consume all my macros for the day!
What’s one piece of advice you would give someone that is just getting started?
Give yourself some grace and learn patience. One bad day won’t change you in the same way that one perfect day won’t give you abs. Try and focus on the bigger picture and develop some consistency, you’ll start to see small progress in many different areas.
