Ada Emetu on Embracing Equity on #IWD23

Hear from Ada Emetu, a BPP Bsc Finance and Accounting lecturer, on embracing equity and International Women's Day

A little bit about Ada:

I joined BPP recently as a BSc Accounting and Finance lecturer. Apart from teaching, I enjoy reading, eating and traveling. I have also been keen on women causes especially domestic violence, child marriage and women’s health. I hope in the future women will not have to worry about the things we worry about today simply because we are women.?

What does Embracing Equity mean to you?

To me, equity is about promoting fairness and inclusivity between men and women as well as among women. It is about actively considering and adjusting for issues that have disadvantaged women historically whether it be due to their care giving role, societal expectation, physiological differences.??

Who in their fight for gender equity inspires you the most?

The people of Iran and feminists in Afghan inspire me as they risk their lives daily to fight for their freedom.?

How will you be celebrating international women’s day?

I will be promoting the achievements of women rights leaders on social media and donating to women causes in poorer countries?
