I wanted to do my part, so I wrote this article to let you know that acupuncture can help support a person going through breast cancer treatments.

I have been supporting people through their breast cancer journeys since 2010.

I learn so much through every single patient, and feel a duty to pass on what I have learned.??

Acupuncture Works alongside Of Western Medicine Breast Cancer Treatments

I treat my patients using acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) while they are going through breast cancer treatments.?

Acupuncture and TCM are effective at reducing the side effects of western medicine cancer treatments, as well as supporting your body's health and promoting recovery.

The side effects of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and hormone therapy can be addressed using acupuncture.?

It also helps to prepare your body before surgery and helps recover quicker post surgery.

Supporting Your Body

Western Medicine cancer treatments can be lifesaving, and also very hard on your body.?

In my experience, it is highly beneficial for a person going through breast cancer treatments to work on maintaining the health of their body. Acupuncture can be very helpful here.

Working With YOUR schedule?

As you may know, or? are just coming to realize, your cancer treatment takes top priority.?

Often your day-to-day schedule can look different to what you are used to depending on the treatments required and the recovery needed.?

How I work with my patients is by scheduling acupuncture treatment around their cancer treatments schedule.?

The Tom Baker Cancer Center will be in charge of creating your chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery schedule.

Together, we look at your cancer treatment schedule and decide what days and times would be optimal to book your acupuncture appointments.

For Example:

We would book your acupuncture appointments between your chemotherapy treatments to help support your health, reducing side effects like nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, neuropathy, sleep issues etc.?

Or?

Book acupuncture appointments before your surgery, to prepare your body, and calm your mind. Booking more treatments after surgery to help your body repair, and reducing any trauma the surgery may have had on you.?

Or

You might make an appointment after your radiation therapy to help relieve the burning sensation and help with stress relief.?

or

If you are having side effects from a hormone therapy then we would take a look at what side effects you are dealing with, and the best way to support you.

Calming Acupuncture Treatment

If you have never had acupuncture, and it sounds daunting I want to set your mind at ease. Acupuncture with me is very calming and relaxing and I work hard to make you feel comfortable and safe.?

You are already going through a very stressful experience and I focus on making the atmosphere calming and your treatment itself relaxing.?

The acupuncture style I use is not painful and I want you to be comfortable enough that you could fall asleep.

With all you are going through I strive for your acupuncture treatments to be your safe place to land.?

Partners On Your Journey

Breast cancer is difficult both on the person going through treatments, as well as the loved ones helping them through this process.

This can be an arduous and stressful process that is taxing on everyone involved.

Often partners will not realize how stressed they are because they are just concerned about getting their loved one through the process.

I have helped many partners and caregivers of people with breast cancer.

If you are reading this, and this is you, please remember yourself in this journey and be sure to take care of your needs as well.

I hope this article was useful in illuminating the benefits of acupuncture alongside western medicine breast cancer treatments.
