Eng. Khaled Abbas, ACUD's Chairman and Managing Director, recently took part in the Real Estate Future Forum "RFF" in Riyadh from January 22nd to 24th, 2024. The event drew attention from influential figures in Saudi Arabia and globally, as well as a significant gathering of real estate enthusiasts.
Eng. Abbas, during a panel discussion on smart city technologies and their role in enhancing sustainability and livability in new urban communities, underscored the seamless integration of such technologies into the projects of the New Administrative Capital from its inception. He emphasized the crucial role of smart city innovations and sustainability principles in urban development, focusing on their impact on improving the quality of life in emerging communities.
In his talk, Eng. Abbas highlighted ACUD's commitment to renewable energy by adorning 50% of building surfaces in the New Administrative Capital with solar panels. He also spotlighted advancements in green spaces, smart transportation, and resource management, specifically in energy, water, and waste. By prioritizing these initiatives, he noted their significant contribution to better air and water quality, reduced noise, and an overall enhancement of residents' well-being.
Addressing the challenges of incorporating green infrastructure into urban planning, Eng. Abbas stressed the importance of achieving balance between development and green spaces, citing challenges related to spatial constraints, infrastructure costs, and land use priorities.
Eng. Abbas concluded by emphasizing the myriad opportunities presented by green infrastructure, including an elevated quality of life, increased attraction for investors and residents, and the realization of both economic and environmental benefits.
