Acts of Kindness - 15 Feb - Edition 5

Win them with your kindness. It is one of the most powerful statements I have ever heard, which can be implemented in all forms of life, personal or professional.

Last year, I took a trip to one of the remote locations in northern India (a small village in Himachal). After spending days with locals, I learnt a lot about gratitude and how they perceive it vs modern society has defined it for us.

This village doesn't have metal connecting roads, but they strongly bond with the people living there.

They might not know the dictionary meaning of "Gratitude" or "Kindness", but they know all living creatures (even non-living) on this planet share the same form of energy.

While we practice gratitude to become a better human, get eyes and eventually get back the respect we are giving to others. They have their definition, and this is what I learnt from them -

  • Greet everyone you meet. Don't just wish "good" time of the day, but also ask them about their families and if they need any help at the moment.
  • Ready to lend a helping hand. Think about how you can make others' lives easy; as if you can help them with their field's work or help them find a job in the city.
  • Eat together. If you want to make long & deep connections, eat together with your family, friends, or partner.
  • Give back to nature and be thankful for every sunrise & sunset you watch.

Below pic is of a temple which is nearby this village. I clicked it during my trek to the temple.

Book of the week from my shelf!

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I know this book doesn't require any introduction. A story of a boy searching for treasure and his journey from his home into the Egyptian desert.

It is a story of how one should not give up on their dreams and always work hard to make them a reality. A must-read for everyone!

Highlight from last week -

Last week, I shared a post on 3 ways to become the master of your field. I am amazed that over 8000 people have seen that post and resonated with it.

Check out the post here and let me know your thoughts on that!

Question of this week -

How much time (per day) you spend in upskilling yourself (learn/read book outside of your field or area of expertise)?

  1. I don't learn/read things that are out of my current expertise
  2. Less than 1 hour
  3. Between 2 - 4 hours
  4. 4+ hours
