How to stay on the Casting Director's mind

I often get asked as a casting director, what's the best way to get in touch, and get on my radar. I've written a few different answers for this over the years. But I wanted to highlight a perfect letter that I received just today.

What did this letter do? It caused me to:

1. look him up on my own computer,
2. look him up on IMDb / internet
3. Take a screenshot,
4. Write an article
5. Post it on Social Media

First I had to look him up on my computer to recall which project he knew me from. I realized that I cast him in the Spring of 2020 in Romeo and Juliet, to play Tybalt, with the Inner City Shakespeare Ensemble in Los Angeles. At that time, he didn't have a lot of credits under his belt, and was fairly new. The pandemic caused a shift in the production, yet since auditioning with me, and being involved in the project I cast him in, he has 11 new credits listed from 2020 to 2021. And he's just booked a Co-Starring role on Big Sky, which has now become a recurring role.

I have to say that these types of successes are also my successes. So now, I have bragging rights. I have the privilege of saying that I helped.

And now, #timoakes is definitely more on my radar, and I will watch his career more closely. So dear reader the answer to getting on my radar is to keep "blipping".
