Activity Plan on World Day Of Cultural Diversity- 21 May (For Nursery To Class 12th)
World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development?is observed by the UN and is celebrated globally on?21 May?every year.
Many of the world’s conflicts come due to cultural differences. Bridging the gap between cultures, acceptance of cultural diversity, helps to inculcate trust, respect and mutual understanding among people around the world.
The importance of teaching cultural acceptance and tolerance to the students is –
1. Promotes Global Understanding: Teaching acceptance and tolerance towards cultural diversity helps students understand and appreciate different cultures, traditions, and perspectives from around the world. This fosters empathy and compassion, leading to a more interconnected and harmonious global community.
2. Enhances Interpersonal Skills: By learning to accept and respect cultural differences, students develop strong interpersonal skills such as communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution. These skills are essential for navigating diverse social and professional environments effectively.
3. Reduces Prejudice and Discrimination: Cultivating acceptance and tolerance helps combat prejudice and discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, or other cultural differences. It encourages students to challenge stereotypes and biases, fostering a culture of inclusivity and equality.
4. Encourages Critical Thinking: Exploring cultural diversity encourages students to think critically about their own beliefs and values in comparison to those of others. This critical reflection promotes open-mindedness and intellectual curiosity, leading to personal growth and self-awareness.
5. Prepares for Global Citizenship: In today's interconnected world, being culturally competent is essential for global citizenship. Teaching acceptance and tolerance equips students with the skills and attitudes needed to navigate diverse societies, engage in respectful dialogue, and contribute positively to a multicultural world.
Presenting a special activity/ competition plan based on?‘World Day of Cultural Diversity’. Through activities, the students will learn about the richness of different cultures around the world and live in harmony with everyone.
Duration: 30 to 40 minutes each – Class-wise activities from Nursery to 12th? ??
Total Plan Cost – Rs 3500
(Please Note –It is recommended to conduct this activity in the first period. The school can either conduct it like a competition or just like a special activity for the day. A short brief about ‘World Day of Cultural Diversity’ to be given in the assembly is also provided in the manual.)??
