NEWS OF THE MONTH
Active Solar returned a very good performance in November and clearly stands out with a YTD performance of +9% (C USD).
Last month's performance was driven by the Q3 financial results of the companies: most of them beat expectations in terms of revenues and profits and the outlook for Q4 and 2023 is definitely confirming the powerful growth of the sector.
World Energy Outlook (link to webinar recording)
The International Energy Agency released in October the latest edition of its flagship annual publication: the World Energy Outlook (WEO) shows how the current global energy crisis triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine can become a historic turning point towards a cleaner, more affordable and more secure energy system.
For the first time in the WEO, solar PV is expected to become the first source of electricity generation in every scenario. In the early or late 2040s for APS and STEPS, but already in mid-2030s for NZE:
We highlight 20% in 2030 because solar PV is definitely on course to reach at least the Net Zero Emissions by 2050 (NZE) Scenario.
We believe that solar will grow even faster than NZE scenario: ca. 5’000 GW of new solar capacities will be installed until 2030 and solar PV will generate already 25% of world electricity in 2030.

USA: solar PV capacity installed by corporations reach 19 GW
The US Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) released its ninth Solar Means Business Report which tracks solar PV adoption by businesses across the USA. Businesses and top global brands are making historic investments in solar energy; nearly 19 GW of solar capacity has been installed with commercial and corporate off-takers (14% of total US solar capacity), more than half of which has come online since 2020.
“Solar Means Business highlights the incredible flexibility of solar, whether it’s installed on a warehouse roof, on a carport or at an off-site facility, showing the various ways that companies are meeting their needs with clean, affordable energy,” said SEIA President and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper. “From data centers to industrial freezers, the most energy-intensive business operations are turning to solar as the most reliable and affordable way to power their infrastructure.”
Here are the companies with the most solar capacity installed:
