Active in scientific terminology of packaging intend to extend shelf life of food (EC 1935/2004).
Nano-composites ( made with nano materials of - Silver , titanium, Copper, Zinc and their oxides embedded with anti-oxidants - as oxygen scavenger ) have potential to prolong the shelf life of the food products by suppressing their enzymatic, oxidative,and microbial spoilage.
The projections show that feeding a world population of 9.1 billion people in 2050 would require raising overall food production by some 70 percent between 2005/07 and 2050. Production in the developing countries would need to almost double. Here comes Tremendous need for Food Technology and Packaging engineering with essence of Nano-Tech. So, lets Promote work on Active packaging.
