Jack Canfield, author of The Success Principles, and co-author of the eminently popular, Chicken Soup for the Soul books, always has inspiring and motivational words for anyone who is ready to make a change in their life.
And by ready, I mean, “open.” Open to looking inward, open to hearing some potentially tough truths, and open to personal growth. Over many years, I discovered the difference between wanting to be ready, and in actually being ready. Does that make sense?
Authors like Jack Canfield can write all of the books, people can watch all of the TED talks, and individuals can write down affirmations until the cows come home, BUT, if they aren’t ready to really and truly put in the work required, the nice, inspiring words will remain just that – words.
Today seems like just as good a day as any to begin this process of opening your mind to the possibility of change – whether you are looking to break a habit, start something new, or rid your thoughts of negativity that is holding you back – YOU have control over what this looks like and how to make it happen.
You do not need to have all of the answers, nor do you need to shout your intentions from the rooftops – what you do need to do is begin.
Currently posted in Nome Alaska, ER and its getting really cold. I see the Bering sea every day and its amazing.
5 年I think we have a lot more control of what we think and our actions.? To many people are living in the fast paced, reptilian brain world and not pushing their frontal cortex to learn and experience the world.? To reach a person full human potential one must constantly engage and experience the world around them and frequently step out of the bubble of the familiar.? Travel, talk to different kinds of people.? Thats how we grow the brain and the mind...
Interesting quote. Given what I've been reading in neuroscience and mind science, I'm not sure we can control what we think, except after a lot of practice. We have some control over our actions, if we have spent sufficient time really thinking about and visualizing our values in action. I've learned a lot from Project Implicit and the book, Blind Spot. They have a be website called Outsmarting Human Minds... www.outsmartinghumanminds.com
