At home, watching my two year old daughter is a fun and a great learning experience for me. She is just like Curious George with less words and much more actions. Her actions speaks louder than her few little words. She is still trying to talk but in her inner brain I am sure she holds that pattern of words that communicate better with the persons she dealt in with or for. Learning is a continuous process in life, it never stops. When it stops your existence in life abrupt on it’s own. Kids are much valuable sources for management lessons. She always reminds me this famous quote ofSwami Vivekananda-“Take up one idea.Think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let every part of your body be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success”.
User Experience project and Curious George:
As I said above, Curious George theory is “Actions speaks louder than your words”. We are now entering into an era of ‘Software Defined Everything’ following a shift in focus from the product itself to an ecosystem of services focused on end user experience around the product.
In my view User experience” encompasses all aspects of the end-user’s interaction with the company, its services, and its products. The first requirement for an exemplary user experience is to meet the exact needs of the customer, without fuss or bother. Next comes simplicity and elegance that produce products that are a joy to own, a joy to use. True user experience goes far beyond giving customers what they say they want, or providing checklist features. In order to achieve high-quality user experience in a company’s offerings there must be a seamless merging of the services of multiple disciplines, including engineering, marketing, graphical and industrial design, and interface design. Here comes the actions not the words. To enable this glorious User Experience to all your customers, you need more “Actions” than the “Words”. To bring those actions into right directions, you need to do the ground work within the teams that you work with.
Recently, in my office we did a couple of projects that got much attention from all our Executives was related End User experience in SAP FIORI and SAP HANA for BI. They both enrich the end user experience for the transactions that they deal with and the reports that they execute to perform the activities to sustain. In all these projects, success won’t be fall in if there are any shrill voices without any actions. Shrill voices of concern- no doubt is needed for any successful work but you need the right leadership and the mindful guidance to make them into actions else you notice a war or a failure.
In a day to day life, we encounter many people who talk louder than their heart says but do a self observation to mirror their actions before you move with them. Bottom line, At every step, we meet and have to deal with people who have the ability to use the sledgehammer of their power with impunity. But,“With great power comes great responsibility.” Hence judge the right people with their actions but not with their words. Leadership lesson for our lifetime. When in doubt, ask a baby. You’ll never go wrong.
