Actions - not just words.

There's a lot of words around, aren't there? Too many, some would say, and likely to be even more as more AI generated content is despatched.
Ironic that I, as a speaker, are saying that, and yes, my craft is words, but the impact of my words is often two important effects: an emotional response and a decision to act differently.
It was thought for many years that the decision part of our brain was purely based within the cerebral cortex, but Antonio Damasio's excellent book, Descartes' Error, clearly showed that the emotional response part of the brain clearly links to the decision-making part of the brain.
That's my aim when I am speaking, generate emotions that lead to actions. That is why words are powerful when they lead to transformation.
A good example of this came recently at the B Corp Louder than Words Festival. Both the sessions I was involved in had a clear call to action (picture of one above) - we certainly need more than words.
Prior to that that, August is a quiet month for speakers, so I took off on holiday to the beautiful country of Scotland. Highlands, Mull & The Shetlands. Stunning scenery, lovely community and great food. What more do you need for a holiday. It was good for my heart and soul to be in some beautiful nature away from people.
In other news, recording of my first podcast series starts next month. I have 6 amazing guests lined up for the first season - watch this newsletter for more nearer the release date, which will be late October, early November.
Do please be in touch if you want someone to inspire your team, organisation or conference to inspirational action.

6 个月Paul actions and not words , is very much what is needed , we often live in a world , where people present a cosmetic superficial appearance, where good intentions are not met with good deeds. For real change to take place, will require a change radical change in mindset , leadership w organisation culture, without these components, it becomes extremely difficult. Peter Drucker once said “that culture eats strategy for breakfast.” There are structures and systems that are so deeply embedded into an organisation psyche , that those who advocate for change also become the unwhitting actors who maintain the status quo.? Paul keep pushing the agenda for change, as you make a difference.
