Action! Your life is on...

I love movies very much. They had a big influence on my entire life. In third grade I had my first argument with Father Joshua because of them. He was the Franciscan Bible teacher in our school. In one of the classes he spoke about surrender, and I remember telling him in a very serious way, "In the movies, the hero never surrenders." He gave me the look, the one when we were in trouble and said, "Kido, this is real life!" Then, he explained to me that there is a big guy up there that has our route map for life. He is going to take us from point A to point B, not in a straight line, but in the best way to accomplish our purpose on Earth.

After all these years, I'm not going to say that Father Joshua was 100% right, but I also can't affirm that he was totally wrong either. He said that this guy works 24/7 and the only time I recalled he took vacations was on Bruce Almightily. I knew, he was going to throw some turbulences and big waves on our path to keep us awake. Maybe an occasional Perfect Storm too. Well, speaking of movies weird titles, how could a storm be perfect??

I remember Father Joshua explained how to prepare our boat for this long trip. A trip that is going to take a lifetime. I would've loved for him to use one of my favorites adventure movie as an example. Instead he read us a couple of parables from the Old Testament. I know. We missed all the fun.

Oh, one more thing, and this is from me. The guy up there, as a movie director, will let you wear the captain's hat and act like you are in charge of the entire ship.
