Can we be sustainable in our business only?
As I was pondering on what to write for this newsletter today I wondered: Can we be sustainable in our business only? Or do we need to align our lives with our business?
We all know that as a leader we need to walk our talk but how many are wondering why they have to look at their home life and align this also when it comes to sustainability?
I have been observing human nature and the fact that most decisions in this world are still driven by money.
I wanted this article to inspire you, I wanted to inspire you by sharing with you the monetary value of Aligning your life and business with sustainability values using the SDGs and the 10 Global Mega Forces.
I know there's a lot of hype over how sustainability is the way to go right now! Sustainability has always been the way to go.
I have for many years I have talked sustainability marching for sustainability, in fact, I was marching in 2005 as part of a human chain of over 200,000 people around Edinburgh to End Poverty SDG No.1
I have been singing the same song like many others and nobody has been listening…. Up until now, we have reached a critical point where there is no more time for singing.?
We need ACTION!
So I spent some time testing, inquiring, observing and learning about where people are when it comes to sustainability in life and business.
I sent out a survey to which over 60 businesswomen replied I added this to the knowledge gathered in a collaborative survey with ?Centre for Sustainable Action
, Dr James, Dr Poku and the American Society for Quality Energy & environmental division (ASQ) gathered from over 60 SMEs and fast-growth companies.
I found 3 things that were barriers to sustainability for both these demographics, so I wanted to share what they are and three things we can do about it.
I am all about Sustainable Life & Business as I know we can’t do one without the other and I am also all about ACTION.
From reading this article I want you to TAKE ACTION no more enjoying a good read than moving on if you implement the action steps I share in this article you will make a difference.
So who is with me? Please do not read further if you are not a person of ACTION.
3 barriers to sustainable ACTION
Let’s look at each result and I will give you one ACTION step to take in your life & one in your business so that you can start the journey to sustainability. We know where your attention goes energy flows, you know about the compound theory of wealth creation right… Now let's add this to sustainable action and the little steps you take will compound and become bigger steps and if we all start stepping we will create the tipping point of a sustainable life & business for you, your family and our planet!

MONEY
Money makes the world go around right! How we make it and how we spend it makes a difference. I mentioned earlier about the Global Mega Forces, now if you don’t know about these then it is time you do because they will be affecting your life & business.?

I’m sure we have all heard of ESG (Environmental social governance) . Did you know 83% of consumers think companies should be actively shaping ESG best practices and 86% of employees prefer to support or work for companies that care about the same issues they do.?
Doing this is a key opportunity in your business because the global middle class is predicted to grow by 172% by 2030, which means more customers, yes with the right knowledge, business practices and reporting, this also means you have more leverage than you think. .
OVERWHELM - A PLAN
So many people in business are stuck in overwhelm (42.86% of businesses surveyed) not knowing where to go next without any clear plans to move forward in fact both surveys I mentioned earlier showed an overwhelming 49.15% and 59.52% of businesses have NO PLAN to guide them towards a sustainable future!
