Action over perfection
This is such an interesting statement for me. If I hadn’t listened to my inner wisdom/gut feel or intuition, this piece of writing might never have seen the light of day.
Every single one of these questions was valid in my mind and of course if I still let these thoughts take priority over action, they would mean a big delay in sending this out, or could mean even not sending it at all.
This article is actually one of the first I have written for a wider audience, mainly because I made a choice, action over perfection. Often, we forget that in nearly every single situation, we can make the choice or decision and habitually, the one we make, is not the one that will serve us best.
Let’s look at each of my concerning questions in turn:
Is it good enough?
This is very closely linked to the 2nd question - Who am I writing this for?, so I will answer both. I am writing this for me! Of course I hope you like it and can take away a little inspiration and even action from it. In not trying to make it for you, I take the pressure off. Yet a distinction here is, that if it is good enough, you will like it and therefore it was written for you.
Is it grammatically correct?
Spelling and grammar are important to me and might be to you as the reader. But if you are a member of the grammar police, I will gladly take your feedback. However, you may miss out on the real intended message, whilst making me a better writer. I can guarantee that all my writing will have at least one spelling mistake or grammar error – and I’m ok with that.
Who will I send it to?
I will post on social media and I will send it to my email list. Well, I call it a list, but there is nothing fancy about it. I went through my contacts and did not make any judgment on whether you would like it or not – that is what the next question is about. There is always the Unsubscribe button or the emoji button.
Who will read it?
The true answer to this is, I do not know and I have stopped making up answers. I might catch you at the right time, you see the article, something in it grabs your attention and off you go. Or you might not even take a look, you are busy, you are distracted – who knows? Only you know if you’ll read it, not me.
What if people don’t like it or react negatively.
What I write will not be for everyone. Even trying to write to be liked or to not receive negative comments is impossible. I am not trying to please everyone and I am not trying to upset everyone. If I am attached to an outcome I cannot control, guess what, I am controlled. So go bold and stop worrying about likes, dislikes or “bad” feedback. Someone once said, you know you have made it if people start writing negative things about your writing. These people are NOT your audience and are welcome to their views.

Summary
Whatever you do in your life – always take action over perfection. Even in a medical emergency, I would rather do something if I was able to help someone and certainly, I would want you to if I needed urgent help.
But in what we see as the less important things in life, a practice of doing something is such a positive compared to doing nothing or waiting and waiting until you think it is perfect or the right time. Every single project, journey, exploration, idea, dream or desire, started with a first small step. You may ask yourself, “But what if I fail”? I can promise you that everybody who has succeeded in anything, however big or small, has done 3 things.
They took action, they’ve had “failures” and they have learnt more from those failures than their successes.
Let’s dig deeper into the idea and perception of “failure” next time.
