Action over Fear
As a teacher I tell music and college students that the smallest action will get you through the fear of any event. Sometimes the event is just getting an assignment finished or completing a class well. Sometimes the event is auditioning for a show or performing in front of your entire school. Either way, one step of action is needed to get the ball rolling over fear.
The first half of 2020 has been an Action over Fear year for me and for many other people. We have needed to adapt our schedules, work, school, and our entire lives really, to stay healthy and accommodate a world wide pandemic. Then the voices of truth rose up to take action over fear and say, "Black Lives Matter" and "Racism can not be the status quo anymore!" I have adapted my life to become more of an activist on this front with marches, protests, prayer, and education in an effort to become not just Not Racist but Anti-Racist.
The action we choose can be small (finding a mask, washing hands or buying a book - or finally starting a conversation with our black neighbors) or it can be great (making a healthier plan for our families, homeschooling our own children - or attending a march and speaking up when our family member makes a racist remark). Either way, Action is a must. Because, In-Action is being a hostage to the Fear and even denial of what is before us.
Consider the brave Actions you have already taken this year to face your Fears and help Protect & Change the World. And then take more....
