What do YOU do to stay positive?
Study after study shows how having a positive attitude can help you across all aspects of your life – including keeping your heart healthy!
That’s super important because heart disease is the number one cause of death in the US (also in Australia and Europe!).
Some of us are just naturally more positive than others … but there are things you can do to reframe your mindset so that you help shrug off those negative emotions.
Change your perspective: Practice slowing down and enjoying the moment, vs. rushing to get through things. This is actually a skill you can learn over time.
If your plans get changed or something gets in the way of what you had planned, try to look at it from a different viewpoint. Is there something good that can come from it? (Also, recognize that change is part of life.)
Smile! Even when you don’t feel like it.
One study showed that smiling (even if it’s fake) can reduce your blood pressure and your heart rate.
Take action. If something is truly bugging you, take action to do something about it. This will help you feel more in control (and positive!) about your situation.
Remember this: ACTION alleviates anxiety.
