Actility team wishes you a healthy & prosperous 2023!

With the arrival of this new year, we would like to share with you some of the highlights of 2022 and our current and future evolution.

Ubiquitous digital twin technology is the core of digital transformation and a key enabler for our transition to a sustainable economy. At Actility, we built?the leading IoT mediation platform?between cloud applications & the physical world. Like a tree, Actility harvests data deep into the physical world through ubiquitous sensing, and converts it to actionable information, the essential aspect?of the cloud.??We demonstrate the increasing value of our work and products in a digital world by enabling every customer to improve its own performance by harvesting more operational data and tracking more assets.

We are the bridge between real life and the Cloud.?If you are wondering what?it means, check out?our website !

“Every day we are surprised by the capabilities of AI, but these algorithms ultimately depend on the availability of data: you cannot extract correlations with what you cannot measure. The bottleneck has become our ability to digitize - in near real-time and with the lowest possible energy footprint and operational overhead - data from the smallest sensors. At Actility, such ubiquitous data harvesting is our mission, serving all customers who want to harness the power of algorithms to become more efficient and contributing to a more sustainable economy.”?

Olivier Hersent, Actility’s CEO??

How have we performed in 2022?

ThingPark-connected LoRaWAN active devices: Over 50% year-over-year growth!??

Over the last 2 years, we have continuously posted year-over-year growth of well?over 50%?in the number of connected devices.?This is?60% faster?than the overall IoT market growth projected by most analysts, like VDC Research, for IoT-connected devices. On our SaaS platforms alone, not counting on-premise?systems,?more than 2 million sensors actively communicate every day.

In 2022, we sent more than?24 billion sensor records?to IoT cloud platforms from our SaaS systems,?growing 50% YoY,?making us one of the largest IoT “data harvesters” globally. Every sensor measurement usually translates to a short JSON document, representing over?1.5 million bibles,?an 80km high pile!?

Another noticeable trend is the densification of public networks: an ever-increasing number of customers complement public network coverage with ad-hoc operator-managed pico-gateways on their own sites. In 2023, we recorded a?whopping 60% YoY growth in the number of SaaS-connected gateways.?

The list of countries with active ThingPark platforms is continuously expanding, and through our ThingPark Exchange peering hub (TEX), we keep connecting networks in the ground and space as well.

Talking about market growth, the enterprise LPWAN market is on fire, our installed base of?ThingPark Enterprise platforms posted a 75% YoY growth in 2022!?

ThingPark Enterprise allows to the deployment of?scalable, multipurpose industrial-grade LPWAN IoT network?infrastructure for industries, smart cities, smart buildings, utilities, logistics, and agriculture. ThingPark Enterprise provides built-in encoder/decoders (CoDecs) for all sensors as well as mediation connectors to all major IoT cloud platforms,?greatly reducing integration costs and accelerating projects.?

Abeeway : indoor & outdoor tracking is the killer app of IoT!

Indoor/outdoor geolocation is once again confirming its prominent place in the IoT ecosystem with demand going up across all customer segments. We sold over 200 000 Abeeway devices in 2022.???

Some of our flagship projects this year were Red Sea Project , car-theft prevention on a massive scale in France with Roole , and the new 1WL geolocation module developed in collaboration with Murata, which is now commercially available with a full evaluation kit.

Global LoRaWAN roaming

Throughout 2022, we kept on expanding the LPWAN backbone, forming the “network of networks”,?with our ThingPark Exchange (TEX) peering hub. Reach of our hub now includes?more than 30 networks,?spanning?public, private, community (e.g., Helium), and satellite (e.g., Eutelsat) networks.?

We have particularly seen an?acceleration in the public-private network roaming?as international solution makers are spreading their solutions to many regions that are served by the ThingPark Exchange-connected networks.?

ThingPark Community, Actility’s portal providing its members with?free-of-charge access?to the best LPWAN network management platform in the world – Actility’s ThingPark – for their non-profit use, is allowing anyone to build a global, long-range, and low-power data network in an easy, cost-effective way. But from now on, it brings members a substantial perk:?connecting as many gateways as you need, provided free of charge to anyone.??

Actility’s Ignite Partner Program : Building IoT Solutions made easy, from integration to doing business together!?

In 2022, we reached?70 device makers and applications providers enrolled?in the Ignite Program from all over the world, and it’s accelerating at a very fast speed with double of that currently onboarding.?Actility provides them with the required tools and resources to complete the integration of their product and services with ThingPark, with?the creation of decoders and application connections.?

Building integrated IoT Solutions

In 2022, we continued to drive our partners and eco-system growth by leveraging innovative IoT technologies?and amplifying their solutions' visibility and exposure. Together with our partners, this year's focus was on diversified verticals such as smart buildings, tracking, post-COVID-19 solutions like Indoor Air Quality, and, of course, supporting Industry 4.0 experts to respond to the energy crisis with power?optimization and predictive maintenance solutions.?

As of today, our partners and the entire IoT ecosystem can benefit from?over?50 turnkey solutions?commercially available on ThingPark Market.? ?

ThingPark Market: the leading IoT marketplace

Since the?launch of the marketplace at the end of 2017, we've focused on sourcing the most reliable vendors and building the largest LPWAN catalog. We are proud of our position as the largest IoT marketplace offering a variety of LoRaWAN, NB-IoT an LTE-M products today.

As we look forward to 2023, let us show you what we've accomplished this year and how we hope to make your experience with us even better.

Where are we heading in 2023?

In 2023, we will continue to innovate and integrate more technologies:??

  1. Unlicensed Cellular IoT:?We already offer the?EPC Connector?to our ThingPark Wireless customers, some of which use it to manage their LTE-M and NB-IoT public networks. Now we will take this capability to enterprise, with fully integrated systems to deploy?CBRS networks?(for the US) and similar? unlicensed 4G/5G spectrum ? access around the world. Stay tuned for our PoC kits in Q1 2023.?
  2. Adding cellular to our geolocation offering.?Integrators love the Abeeway trackers and the ability to tune them to any use case with?over 130 parameters.?Now we make these capabilities available to cellular networks as well,?combining the best of licensed and unlicensed technologies.
  3. We are taking the Abeeway multi-technology geolocation core engine to a wider market in form of a?module co-designed with Murata (1WL) .?This module?accelerates and de-risks the design phase and the production?phase for all projects requiring ultra-low-power indoor/outdoor geolocation.
  4. After the successful initiative of CoDec standardization at the LoRa alliance, led by Actility in 2022, we will continue to?bridge the gap with AI and cloud algorithms, adding further data processing features to ThingPark Enterprise dataflow engine such as?data normalization.?
  5. We are also preparing a few game-changer initiatives that will further accelerate?mass-scale IoT projects, but shhhh…?we will disclose more details in Q2.?

2022 was a very special year, as we were able to meet again with many of you after a long pandemic, at events such as?LoRaWAN World Expo , SIDO, IBS and many others. But to fill the void, we successfully?delivered many webinars ?which brought us together.?

For this new year, the whole Actility team looks forward to meeting you at our next expos and conferences all over the world. Stay tuned!

Let’s build a successful 2023 together!?
