Act Now for the Guadalupe River Park's Future

Dear River Park Friends (aka the Guad Squad),

As we close out 2024, I want to take a moment to thank you for your support of the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy, and to share some exciting updates and upcoming challenges for the Guadalupe River Park.

I also need your help - to donate and consider increasing your gift this year to the Guadalupe River Park Conservancy.

This year, we made meaningful progress in enhancing our civic greenway.

• Decade of Play for All: hosting nature programs, volunteer events, and caretaking the expanded Rotary PlayGarden, ensuring a decade of inclusive play for children of all abilities.
• Honoring Horticultural History: nurturing 200 replanted fruit trees in the Historic Orchard and secured irrigation improvements to the Heritage Rose Garden.
• Community Investment in Park Assets: We cleared a path for future park developments, including Confluence Plaza’s expansion and future urban farm in the Guadalupe Gardens.

These accomplishments highlight the Guadalupe River Park’s unique role as a place for recreation, education, and ecological restoration in the heart of San Jose. However, this future depends on your support now to overcome pressing challenges:

• Balancing Shared Spaces: We continue to address the intersection of open space and homelessness, developing partnerships and innovative programs for a safe, uplifting, and accessible park for everyone.
• Uncertain Times: As financial pressures grow, the demand for our programs and resources has never been greater, nor our unique role as both park service provider and community connector.
• Critical Momentum: Federal bureaucratic obstacles that stalled park development progress for decades have been recently resolved, opening a crucial window to advance the park’s vision.

We are wading through unclear waters and your action is vital to supporting these next upcoming steps, and we are $4,000 away from meeting our $28,000 board matching campaign.
