ACS Celebrates 20 Years in Business
Apex Controls Specialists celebrates 20 years in business. What are we doing right to stay in business for 20 years? Starting our business in 1996 was the easy part, keeping our clients excited about our business was the hard part. We all know the economy has suffered some tough times over the last 20 years. It’s hard to survive during these times unless you adapt to the ever-changing landscape of business. It’s part of the flow of the times and how you stick to your niche and realize you can’t be everything to everyone.
We decided early in our existence that we needed to find a certain market segment and work that segment in different ways as the market and economy changed. We came out with our first salable product in the late 90’s. We wanted to be flexible in the market place and we learned everything we could about our chosen market segment. We learned that as the market changed and companies were no longer buying new equipment or adding capacity, they would try to make their existing equipment last longer and run more efficient. We simply went from providing a “state of the art” controls system for our new salable product to providing that same “state of the art” controls system for existing client equipment, making it more efficient and smarter than the generations before. It’s about changing, adapting and reinventing yourself and refusing to spin out of control.
I think companies survive by keeping a loyal client base that is driving their business to you because they want you to succeed and thrive. They want your services because it’s easier to interface and they trust you will always do the right thing and always strive for a successful outcome. I think a good business is built on flexibility, willingness to change and adapt, and a loyal client base. A great business is built on all the above with employees who care about the success of the business. I have very much enjoyed watching ACS grow over the last 20 years and watching ACS families grow and prosper along with our success. We will continue to re-invent our business as it grows and adapt to future technology and economic times. I am confident we will see another 20 years.
