Acquisition Tuesday

Day 2, Week 1

Running a business can be tough. Rewarding. Fun. Stressful, all in the first 30 minutes of a day.

Wherever you are in your business, thank you for taking a risk, employing people and dreaming bigger than the 9-5.

Today I want to share some basic thoughts of our journey around acquisitions and what that looks like and to start thinking how that might look for you.

Scaling a business goes through different stages, those stages are different for people at different times but goes through a series of stages.

1 - (0 -100k) - Find a problem, solve it and sell the solution to someone and deliver on it

2 - (100k to 1m) - Work out how to do that thing on a regular basis, get a flow of leads, systemise to a degree and bring some people in to help you

3 - (1m to 5-10m) - Scale every aspect of the business, get leads, marketing pipelines, create systems and processes and bring a management team in to support you

4 - 5/10m to 100m - Acquire through acquisition to scale at pace

Now all; of these steps are different for leaders at different stages, this could be down to you as a person, the market or your peers, but mainly its down to your mindset. What have you got that's so big you need to think big.

Having built our business and grown organically, with a great team, we are now acquiring businesses. We have been on this path for around a year now and continuing to build and develop the brand has been key for us. We are in a market that is very competitive for what we do invidually, no one does what we do as a USP, but we have to keep evolving.

That's why we are now going global. Our goal is to provide the same epic services for the rest of the world. We cover all the areas of compliance, logistics and online distribution, imagine a world where you only need one partner to globally expand your brand outside of your home market. If you want to compete with the biggest players in the world, you need to think, act and have partners that can help you with that easily.

We can only do this through acquisition. Building a global business and starting 25 businesses from scratch would take too long, we can fast track the first part of the success by buying a company already doing this.

Every business should think about either their exit and/or acquiring other businesses. You all have a different dream and focus, take what feels right at the time. There is no right or wrong for us, its right for you.

We are hungry to ensure brands get to expand their brand like a public company with the benefit of remaining small and we will use the M&A model to support that.

Start ups usually fall down at 2 and 3 in my experience. Often the issue is that the leader lacks the business savvy to know which way they need to head.
