Achieving work satisfaction is simple

Google "Why do people leave organizations?" "Staff morale"? The results? Chances are following will appear as the primary reasons:
1. BAD Boss: People leave bosses not organizations
2. Bad salary, bad salary hike
3. Bad work culture
4. Bad colleagues
5. Bad perks
6. Bad location
7. Bad country
8. Bad spouse, kids
9. Lousy commute,
10. Bad etc
Notice a similarity? 100% reasons for work satisfaction and employee morale are linked to external factors. After all, you can hardly control your boss, hikes, perks etc. Such a position isn’t difficult to understand: blaming others and external factors for EVERYTHING is simple, easy and brings instant satisfaction. What’s happier than to acknowledge that the world is responsible for all your problems and that you are perfect? Such assumptions reach catastrophic proportions when industry experts, freelance writers and “thought leaders” – eager to get eyeballs for their writeups – keep blaming the world and further play to fallible emotions of people.
So aren’t bosses, organizations, spouses and external factors not responsible for dissatisfaction and unhappiness? Perhaps, they are - but two factors are important:
1. To what extent can you control these factors. Besides making your own life more miserable and destroying an already bleak picture, blaming external factors achieves nothing.
2. Even if external factors do matter, what’s important is the degree to which we allow them to impact us. In reality, such external factors are responsible for less than 1% of REAL challenges in life. 99% depends on something else. And that something else is all about INTERNAL FACTORS.
The best news is that 100% of these internal factors are under our DIRECT control 100% of the time.
Successful people arent plain lucky - they forget external factors but control internal factors 100% of the time. And the rest of us? We blame external factors 100% of the time and forget internal factors.

6 年Good article.. but I believe this greed to achieve more and more.. in less time.. is not going to help humanity..We are stretching rubber band too far and still not satisfied. It is bound to break..

6 年I think accountability and fairness are generic characteristics, Jenson Joseph - not specifc to the size of an organization. Without denyng the importance of those factors, Whats vital in the grand scheme of things is a focus on internal factors under our own direct control - as alluded to in the article.
