Achieving greater effectiveness in foundation grant making

Seven African American women who lead local foundations will be honored on February 13th by the African American Legacy of the Chicago Community Trust and the Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy. I am a founder of the former and active in the latter. I believe that the closer our philanthropic leaders are to the communities they seek to serve the more effective the grant making. The honorees are:

Angelique Powers – President, Field Foundation

Sharon Bush – President, Grand Victoria Foundation

Shelley A. Davis – President, Forest Preserve Foundation

Dr. Na’ilah Suad Nasir – President, Spencer Foundation

Dr. Helene D. Gayle – President, Chicago Community Trust

Monique Jones – President, Evanston Community Foundation

Patricia E. Ford – Executive Director. Steans Family Foundation

Tovah McCord – Executive Director, Chicago Blackhawks Foundation
