Achieving A Circular Economy - Repurpose

Catalyzing the Circular Economy by delivering the highest environmental and financial return on technology assets
This is the third in a series of ten articles discussing and factualizing the current and critical future state of our global supply and demand chain, especially as it relates to the Telecom and IT Industry.
?3 – Extend Lifespan – Repurpose
?How often do you find a new use for something in your home or business? Maybe an old kitchen knife goes in the toolbox or that cleaned out ice-cream container holding odds and ends in the kitchen draw, even that worn out shirt being used to clean the car. Items get repurposed all the time and often without much thought.
?FACT: Around 50% of us routinely repurpose household objects to save money or waste.
?With specialized items such as Telecom assets it’s a little more difficult but not impossible. For example, repurposing a 2G base station as anything else, well not possible except maybe a door stop! However, repurposing that same base station from heavy use in the city center where it’s become obsolete due to its low capacity to a rural area providing new coverage to underserved communities, is one way of repurposing.
?As networks grow and evolve it’s normal that technologies become obsolete and need to be replaced or upgraded. But networks don’t change in massive single steps, it’s a rolling program, from the core to the edge, gradually and continuously introducing newer technology where there is greatest demand and revenue opportunity, out further and further.
