Most people tend to believe that it would take them many months or years to achieve a level of mastery in their current field of work. They lose heart, they become discouraged and give up before they even begin.
But, it's not out of the question for you to bring up a skill level in a particular area in a matter of weeks or just a few months.
Ok, so what's the secret? There isn't any secret. you have to realize that your life only gets better when you get better. This is a simple truth - it's inescapable. It says that any part of your life can improve on the outside when you improve on the inside.
If a salesperson wants his or her sales to get better, he or she must become a better salesperson. If a manager wants his or her staff to get better, the manager must become a better manager. If you want your children to become better, you must become a better parent. The "key" is that you can improve any part of your outer world if you just go to work on yourself and get busy improving yourself on the inside.
Here's a plan for achieving your goal: set a goal, make a plan, and get busy! Once you have identified the critical skills that you need to master, write them down as goals, make a plan for their accomplishment, and start to work.
Then, no matter how long it takes, just keep working away. And, be patient with yourself. As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day." Important skills take a while to develop. But if you persevere, step-by-step, you will eventually become one of those people - one of those people who you've admired for what they've accomplished and yearned for in your own life.
There's one thing to remember, once you get there - that's only the beginning - you now have to stay there - and that's even more of an effort than achieving your goal in the first place. But you know something? It's actually fun - yes, you really get to enjoy the practice, the hard work, the constant focus. That's when you know that you're making it - when you are having fun doing it!
