Hey there,?
As workplace trends evolve and sustainability goals become more urgent, leaders are rethinking how their spaces can maximize efficiency and employee well-being.
This week, we’re highlighting how occupancy intelligence can help optimize your office for both cost savings and a more sustainable, productive environment.
Let’s dive in.
As we enter the new year, building sustainable work environments has become a top priority for workplace leaders worldwide. A recent survey from EY reveals that over 50% of CEOs now rank sustainability as a higher priority than it was just 12 months ago.
If sustainability is at the forefront of your workplace goals for 2025, occupancy intelligence is a critical tool to help you streamline operations, optimize costs, and enhance efficiency. By aligning workplace strategies with employee behaviors and space usage patterns, leaders can reduce wasted energy and resources, moving closer to their sustainability goals while maintaining an exceptional workplace experience.
At the 5th Occupancy Intelligence Summit, Antonio Brunner, Global Head of Projects at Deutsche Bank, shared how his team uses data-driven insights to reduce costs and increase energy savings without compromising employee comfort.
Here’s how they did it:
1. Optimizing Cleaning Operations
Before implementing data-driven changes, Antonio’s offices were cleaned daily, including spaces that weren’t actively used. By analyzing space utilization data, his team identified underutilized areas and adjusted cleaning schedules accordingly. This reduced cleaning costs and wasted resources while maintaining the high quality of services employees expect
2. Automating HVAC Operations
Traditional HVAC systems often waste energy by maintaining operations in unoccupied areas. Leveraging VergeSense utilization data, Antonio’s team dynamically managed air conditioning zones, turning off cooling in spaces without occupants. This resulted in more than 30% energy savings on certain days—all without impacting employee comfort. Looking ahead, further automation promises even greater efficiency gains by optimizing upstream systems like air handling units and chillers.
Why it Matters
These examples demonstrate how occupancy intelligence can create actionable opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and reduce waste, empowering workplace leaders to drive meaningful progress toward their sustainability goals. With even simple adjustments, leaders can achieve impactful results without sacrificing employee experience.
As sustainability remains a growing priority, integrating smart utilization data into your workplace strategies ensures your operations are not only more efficient but also more adaptable to the evolving needs of employees and the planet
