ACE your Fear

ACE your Fear

“As I stood and faced the audience, I felt a choke in my voice,

To appeal and give a reason on why I am their best choice.

Little did I know the booing & the hooting will spur me to find

that the tears & the shame will be reminders of all that I need to bind

Who I can be, What I can do, how I can discover the real me?

The process had just begun, the practice was the only guarantee.

Life is a journey; we all are travelers moving onward unknowingly.

The stations we stop on, are designed to prepare us seemingly,

for every challenge that life is all set to throw at us, not knowing

our prep is our process, the chiseling is all we need in growing.

My journey, my purpose, my dream is all I could see unfold clearly

my pain, my shame was but a reason, for me to come out cheerily…

from the cocoon and proudly fly high with my colorful wings and erase my frown,

To reach my highest potential and be the catalyst to help others find their crown!”

MY PURPOSE, MY DREAM- Rashmi Shetty

?14 lines where I wrote about overcoming my fear, published as-part of an anthology of poems that? created a world record.?

Was it an an easy journey? NO!

Recently I was in a coaching conversation where my client asked me my story.? While I was sharing it with her I was brief. Post the session however I sat down to reflect on what I learned from life. The fear of public speaking was a huge challenge for me. The journey to overcoming it was possible when I connected to the? #voiceinme. What pulled me out? of my weakness ? Of course working on myself. With practice & self belief it is possible to overcome any fear/weakness. ?

This picture in the radio station is proof of what is the end result of acing weakness.

Enumerating below how I was able to ACE mine:

Acknowledgement, Courage to work on self and Empower yourself to progress

Acknowledgement:?

“Acknowledging weakness doesn’t make a leader less effective. On the contrary, in most cases it is simply a way of expressing that he understands what everyone else has known for some time. When you acknowledge your weaknesses to the rest of your team, it is never new information.” Andy Stanley?

This is the first step. When you recognise it and then decide to work on it. This makes it easy for you and those with you to now work on making sure you take steps to improve. When this first step is complete the rest are easy to follow.

Courage:

“Courage isn’t strength having the strength to go on- it is going on when you don’t have the strength.” Napoleon Bonaparte

This is most required when you are on the verge of giving up.Sometimes the most challenging moments of life are when you are most tired and see no progress. Giving up is the easiest option. The will to stay on and pursue is called Courage.?

Empowerment:

You don’t need anyone’s permission to be yourself.” – T. Harv Eker.

Each one of us has our own uniqueness and identifying that to take us higher is what is important and where we need to focus. We are seeking constant Validation and this does not help us in our growth as we work towards pleasing others. The day we are comfortable being ourselves, we are truly empowered.

Therefore? ACE your weakness and watch yourself bloom , it is a beautiful process when you can smile at your reflection with pride.

Love this? powerful quote of Brene Brown:

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.

Would love to know what ACE your fear means to you.

?So true Rashmi Shetty focusing on our strengths is great, but there's magic in embracing our "weaknesses" too. They often hold hidden potential waiting to be unlocked.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do" is precisely why I'm committed to speaking out and telling my story as an abuse, trauma and suicide attempt survivor myself. Sure, I still get stage freight before each speech, but it's about something bigger than just me -- someday I'll reach somebody somewhere who needs to hear this message of hope, bravery, survivorship and resilience. Maybe I might just save their life after they listen to this message, God willingly!
